why no pictures? surely people need to know who they're looking for

stoppinattwo · 21/06/2007 08:00

I dont know why no pictures yet, it has only happened about 12 hours ago. I heard on the radio early this morning...just trying to make people aware as soon as possible i guess. Im sure piccies will be circulated as soon as some are available

we need an amber alert here in the uk for missing children.

hope he is found safe and sound.

tiredemma · 21/06/2007 08:22

This is very odd. Just been on local news, clearly a child has been bundled into the back of a car last night- but 12 hours later and as of yet no child has been reported missing by anyone

tiredemma · 21/06/2007 08:23

has not been reported that should say

tiredemma · 21/06/2007 08:23

sorry, im still asleep.

tiredemma · 21/06/2007 08:25

bbc here

bbc

I knew nothing of this new Child Rescue Alert System.

RubberDuck · 21/06/2007 08:29

I'm registered with that Child Rescue Alert System - at least I am if it's the same one set up a few years ago. AND I'm in the same county as the incident - got no alert on my mobile

I suspect some teething problems.

RubberDuck · 21/06/2007 08:32

I now can't find the original page where you signed up. Perhaps they stopped the mobile alerts and restricted it only to press and TV?

MamaG · 21/06/2007 08:32

tiredemma - nobody has reported him missing? Is it possible that he hasn't actually been abducted and the "bundled into a car" seen by somebody was actually a cross Dad as boy had sneaked out to play? I hope so

stoppinattwo · 21/06/2007 08:35

oh i do hope that is the case mamag........

tiredemma · 21/06/2007 09:42

I hope its that MamaG- seems odd that no child has been reported missing. But police are taking it very seriously, on the news they had forensic officers and had sectioned off the street.

TwoToTango · 21/06/2007 10:10

I have never heard of a child rescue alert system, is this it ?

tiredemma · 21/06/2007 11:28

The news just said that man was seen TAPING BOYS MOUTH UP! and bundling him into car.

Cannot believe that no-one has reported a child missing.

calebsmum · 21/06/2007 13:31

Hope they find him quickly, starting to see more coverage of this now

foxinsocks · 21/06/2007 13:33

it was a breaking news story on the late news (11pm) last night

they had it out on all the channels but couldn't do a proper 'alert' as no-one had reported a child missing, they just had the witness reports of a child being taped up and bundled into a car

BellaLasagne · 21/06/2007 13:34

I'm in the Midland TV area and they flashed it up last night on BBC1 about 9.30 over the top of whatever was on.

Hope they find him soon

foxinsocks · 21/06/2007 13:36

think they said on the news last night that they had used the new Child Alert system (but it didn't flash through on programmes here but maybe that's because we're in London and they only did it in the local area?)

BellaLasagne · 21/06/2007 13:37

Yes, TTT, that was it, a ticker tape type of display at the bottom of the screen. It was on every few minutes until 10pm.

I was expecting it to be headline News at 10 but it wasn't mentioned at all. Even on Midland Today at 10.30 it was only the 2nd or 3rd story after the floods!

BellaLasagne · 21/06/2007 13:39

I don't know how they can expect everyone to know what to look for if there's no name or picture of the poor little chap.

BettySpaghetti · 21/06/2007 13:40

on ITV news now

tiredemma · 21/06/2007 13:41

Ive seen it quite a lot on local news.

BettySpaghetti · 21/06/2007 13:42

Well the ITV news said no more than has already been said on here really

if they don't know who he is, how do they know how old he is?
