just heard on Sky news that her parents are on "standby" due to a credible phone call from someone who says they know of her whereabouts.Hope this is good news!

looked on sky website and it seems to be saying the call was from england and they are on standby to come back??

seriously though, I hope it's credible, but if its sky news I wouldn't be too hopeful - they report everything and most of it's sensationalist garbage.

Seems credible enough but how frustrating that they can't get back in contact. Now that it will be all over the papers etc whoever it was might be scared off.

They just metioned it on ITV news, but didn't say alot other than that they'd had a credible call from someone saying they knew where she was and that the parents are in europe but on standby to return if they need to.

I have been staying off the recent threads but I just HAVE to post on this one. If she is alive, thank Christ. But if this is some awful hoax then it is too, too cruel.

sounds like a hoax to me. why would he call and then not contact again - if he so urgently wanted to speak to the mccanns then he would have called back if he was genuine.

if it's a hoax it's horrible.

well if made the family postpone their planned flight to Amsterdam, obviously it seemed credible to them; although in their situation I would clutch at every straw I'd imagine.

I just feel that if it is plastered all over sky, anyone who may have the little girl will be able to read about it and be alerted.

From the article though all you learn is a man who didn't reveal his identity, nationality or whereabouts and cannot be traced said he wanted to speak directly to the Mccanns - which didn't work out.

I hope he was not enticing them back home as they were about to go to a country where she really is.

perhaps someone who doesn't want to get caught? possibly the person who's taken her even? just hope it isn't a hoax and that she is alive and well.

perhaps they don't want to give out too many details either.

but so much detail about madeleine and her family has been revealed in the media that it would be easy for someone to make up a credible call about her. And after so long the parents would act on any call saying that her whereabouts was known - surely.

I hope it isn't a hoax - i hope it's genuine and that this leads to Madeleine, but the lack of further contact just sounds dubious to me.
