It appears the children and teacher have been found alive.
Has a miracle happened ?
I am so delighted and hope they will be ok after their horrific ordeal.
It's always nice to see good news as lately all the headlines are of something bad having happened.
Please forgive me if there is already a thread on this topic.

One of the boys, in his letter, said the air was cold down there Sad

LighthouseSouth · 07/07/2018 22:43

oh dear
I was thinking more of the water if they got them out that way but I suppose that means possible hypothermia even if they wait on the ledge.

Pupsiecola · 08/07/2018 00:15

The air temperature is around 79 degrees from memory. The water will be very cold apparently.

Apparentely Elon Musk is sending a mini submarine. Someone posted this thread earlier, and I've been checking it several times a day:-

I think I read too that to drill down for the Chilean miners took weeks and weeks and it was 50% of the depth of the Thai cave, so I don't think that's an option. Also, it is dense rain forest on top of the mountain, and they cannot be sure where the boys are in relation to the top of the mountain.

BBC update a couple of hours ago, saying conditions are perfect, and they have a few more days before heavy rain is due:-

Australian news also seems more informative than ours (uk). I wonder why?

I hoping no one starts turning the tide against the coach. He is only young himself, and has spent most of his life an orphan, living with extended relatives, and then in a monastry. Poor chap. My heart goes out to him too.

WellThisIsShit · 08/07/2018 03:22

Sorry wasn’t clear, by ‘no one starts turning the tide against...’ in my post just above, I meant no one = mainstream news agencies or influential quotable source, not us on here.

I think posters on here are all very aware of the complexities and humanity in this terrible situation.

Monty27 · 08/07/2018 04:36

Yes that poor young lad that was leading the team. I heard on the radio he has sent back a letter of apology to the parents of the team. How true that is I don't know. It was LBC. And yes he is just a young boy too.
Please let them all get back safely if there's any god anywhere. [Sad]

herecomesthsun · 08/07/2018 06:21

So they're going in now...God bless them all.

pombal · 08/07/2018 06:37

Hoping all goes well for the boys and their rescuers today.

FairySpringer · 08/07/2018 07:32

I've been thinking about these poor boys everyday. I am glad they're making the move to evacuate them, but I really feel for them - going through such a scary mission. I so hope they will all make it out ok.

Clairetree1 · 08/07/2018 07:34

praying for them all

GlitteryFluff · 08/07/2018 07:36

Hoping the kids, coach and the rescue divers all get back safely today. Let's hope for a miracle.

EdgeOf17 · 08/07/2018 07:47

I am not religious at all but I am praying to every spiritual being that everyone makes it safely.

chequeplease · 08/07/2018 08:20

Absolutely praying.
Apparently the water level is low enough for them to walk through a couple of chambers. I think this is a good plan to move them today, I'm just praying they are ready and resilient enough.

eloisesparkle · 08/07/2018 08:38

Wishing with all my heart they all get out safely.
What wonderful people, the divers, doctors and all the emergency personnel involved in the rescue are.
I'm so sorry that somebody died in the rescue attempt. Sad

Glad the conditions are now at their best to get the boys moving.

peridito · 08/07/2018 08:41

Interesting news from Guardian .

With talk on here about sedation it's tempting to read a lot into this persons specialism in anesthesia ,but maybe key point is his experience as a diver ( cave diver ???) and rescue missions .

While details of the rescue team are still murkey, a key player in the team is Australian doctor and diverDr Richard Harris, an anaesthetist based in Adelaide.

The civilian diver was specifically asked to join the rescue mission by the British divers who found the boys on Monday night.

He has worked at South Australia’s emergency medical retrieval service (MedSTAR) as an aeromedical consultant and has previously worked with AusAID in Vanuatu providing anaesthesia and intensive care services.

He has also worked as an underwater cameraman on National Geographic documentaries and feature films.

Whirliegigspiders · 08/07/2018 08:42

I think it's a case of do nothing and wait for the rain to fill it up or make an attempt even though.its incredibly risky.

DamsonGin · 08/07/2018 09:02

I've got everything crossed for them.

Piccolino2 · 08/07/2018 09:07

If there is a God please let these boys and their coach and the rescuers make it out alive and well. If there isn't I hope we see a miracle and have a successful rescue with no further loss of life.

These people are just amazing, so brave. I will be thinking of them all.

DaffoDeffo · 08/07/2018 09:58

Yes the rescuers are incredible. In the UK a lot of rescue staff are volunteers too - not even paid for what they do. These people are heroes.

I have everything crossed today that they start getting them out alive. I just can't even imagine the sheer terror they are all feeling.

Wishfulmakeupping · 08/07/2018 10:03

I thought initially they might wait but obviously with the air quality concerns they need to act now. So incredibly risky bless them all I hope they all managed to get out safely.

NapQueen · 08/07/2018 10:03

I cannot imagine the emotions the boys parents must be feeling throughout this. The outlook seems pretty poor either way, I couldnt help but think about the worst outcomes.

I hope there is no long term repurcussions for the Coach, his ordeal along with watching the boys suffer, will haunt him forever.

ValMc1 · 08/07/2018 10:17

I feel sick just thinking about them - everything crossed for their safe return.

LanguidLobster · 08/07/2018 10:18

@NapQueen me too. I guess this will all unfold throughout the day.
