I could weep - I've only had two and I didn't even look like that before I got pregnant!

Her kids names are funny though.

mommajools · 20/05/2007 21:50

but she likes those names so why disrepect her choice? just because they are not nice middle class names like Henry and Lucy?

minorityrules · 20/05/2007 22:10

So it's perfectly acceptable to berate and insult a woman (who is married, with a working husband) just for having a large family, being thin and not calling her children Jack and Chloe?

But not to question any other family in the news

Nice

rattleskuttle · 20/05/2007 22:10

i think her children look lovely. good for her!

and as for comments about her being a grandmother - she had her first at 18, and her daughter has had a baby at 18 - well, so what? i had my first at 20 and my daughter's had her first baby at 21, which makes me a granny too.

she may be very nice but i'm not. i am a rough tart, so i have no hesitation in saying to the nasty posters Fark off! and i'll slap you with my spaniel-ear like norks!

countrylass · 20/05/2007 22:15

Of course minorityrules - after all, she's obviously so rough and naff, especially having a lorrydriver for a husband, that she absolutely DESERVES it.

mommajools · 20/05/2007 22:18

and she probably holidays in a caravan on Canvey Island

countrylass · 20/05/2007 22:28

God yes, mommajools, fancy expecting a positive response to a newspaper article when the woman holidays in a caravan!!

mommajools · 20/05/2007 22:36

I dont know if she does holiday in a caravan -only looked at the photo of her envialble figure and her beautiful family and did not read the article but saw this thread when it was started and was shocked at the nastiness of other mothers and a dad who had basically dumbed her down. I was being sarcastic to the middle class idiots on here saying that.

Wotzsaname · 20/05/2007 22:39

I think her phot with her family looks lovely, but why is it in the news.

If it is just because of her size then that is

Shame on you Daily Mail...go do some work.

mommajools · 20/05/2007 22:44

its light hearted news - like the BBC use to do at the end of their 10' o'clock broadcast...'and finally...
13 kids in this day and age is unusual - there are not many large families nowadays and keeping her figure as well - start a thread asking if anyone is happy with their figure after have a couple of kids and I'm sure would moan about everything going south

countrylass · 20/05/2007 22:45

I know mommajools, I agree.

Seems like its cool to be kind to only certain classes of society.

countrylass · 20/05/2007 22:48

And strangely enough, if the article was something like, 13 kids and weighing 30 stone I think the comments would actually have been kinder. They may have disagreed with it, but would have probably put their comments in a far more tactful and thoughtful way, probably through pity. Because the comments towards this lady are channelled through jealousy, the bitchiness is disgusting.

(And the comment about her kids looking like 'Village of the Damned' is disgusting - perhaps one of them needs to go missing for us to be nice about them).

Wotzsaname · 20/05/2007 22:50

mommajools your kitten pictures would be fluffy news worthy, they are so cute

mommajools · 20/05/2007 22:52

Thank you Wotzaname!

WK007 · 20/05/2007 23:00

I say good on her - I think she must be seriously deranged to have 13 kids but if they're all looked after then fine. Her dh has a job, they're not campaigning for a huge council house and she's not pushing anorexia so they seem like a good family.

Agree on the point that maybe the kids don't get enough one on one attention but then many kids don't, whether they're only children or part of a large family. Having known a family of 12 kids, there's just a mass family mentality and everyone gets attention from everyone else.

Certainly makes a very postive change to that family where both parents were on benefits, the father had a mistress, the older girls were having babies at a rate of knots and they were whining for a big council house.

mommajools · 20/05/2007 23:05

I do think it is a class issue here on mumsnet and on the 'other' threads where people are told they are not allowed to discuss certain issues. If you look at the old threads about Mark Warner holidays and especially about the new resort in Portugal and various articles about MW in the broadsheets from last year you will see it is a place for the middle classes to holiday. There was one post in the archives that said the kids go into the creache morning and afternoon - but you have to pick them up at luchtime or pay for a nanny to have them over lunch - to me it seemed it was the ideal place for professioanl parents to holiday while their nanny was back at home on her 2 week yearly break.
This mum is not a MW type of mum so she gets ridiculed plus of course it was in the daily mail = even more horror 0r maybe snobbery

Hilllary · 20/05/2007 23:10

Size 0 But she has huge arms!!

Carmenere · 20/05/2007 23:13

Whilst I agree with you re most of the negative comments re this lady stem from jealousy why attack the posters for being a different class? You don't know what class posters on mn come from and your antipathy towards middle class people is not acceptable in exactly the same way as if a middle class person is rude about another for being working class.

Wotzsaname · 20/05/2007 23:16

class...really? not a MW type of mum

Where folk go on holidy has no relation to class. Where they would like to go on holiday/spend their money is another matter.

What do you consider yourself?

Hilllary · 20/05/2007 23:18

Oh no we're not back on that subject are we?

OtterInnit · 20/05/2007 23:18

my arms are worse than that but not much and i am a 12

Wotzsaname · 20/05/2007 23:18

Carmenere - I agree and with that i'm off.

mommajools · 20/05/2007 23:30

Jealousy - probably about having a 23" waist

but class regarding the names of her kids, her top from primemark, the bad highlights, looking a minger, chav - these words are all associated with a certain class of people. Thats why inthink it is an inverted type of snobbery.
As for me - I've grown up middleclass, then lived in a council flat, married, then single mum, then own business and own a couple of house so been on both side of the tracks. Probalby just inbetween I suppose but never really thought about it.

But the whole point this mum may be a member of mumsnet - she has lenty of kids to qualify - and i'm horrified that long standing members seem to have forgotten mumsnet's philisophy.

expatinscotland · 20/05/2007 23:35

I don't find her kids' names any funnier than all this Cassius, Lachesis, Homer nonsense.

'India, where will jealousy lead you?'

expatinscotland · 20/05/2007 23:36

Huge arms my ARSE.

Puhleeze.
