I could weep - I've only had two and I didn't even look like that before I got pregnant!

I can't see that this story is newsworthy either.

So the woman is a human sausage machine - what does she want, a medal?

Her head examining more like it.

bettybobo · 03/06/2007 06:41

jesoos some of you get stuck in dont you? like cats pouncing...
anyway some of these comments wouldnt be far different from that babyrazzi site i saw the other day which alot of people on here.
question getting kicks out of that sort of judgement, and 'chav', george at asda, village of damned, primark comments, blah blah blah

Quootiepie · 03/06/2007 07:02

Funny how 13 kids was norm say...50/60 years ago, now you are a 'freak'. Maybe she didn't want to really do the article, I doubt she went to the paper saying "ooh, look at me, I am size 0 with 13 kids". On the other hand I agree with the fact that it's a pretty bad article, celebrating size zero especially after having babies. Kinda puts the pressure on. Anyway, good on her really if she just naturally is slim like that, and good for her having 13 kids, nothing freakish about that.

bettybobo · 03/06/2007 07:08

quootiepie think its on the back of all that size zero stuff in the news about a month back. This must be their version, tailored to their readers, not much of a story though. size zero is more of health problem if you're 6ft tall like the models papers like the guardian etc were covering. shes probalby always been skinny naturally not really something to write home about...

SueBaroo · 03/06/2007 15:07

human sausage machine? Nice.

krazykoolkazza · 03/06/2007 20:21

I'd say that having that amount of children in that time frame makes you pretty much a human sausage machine.

To be quite honest I for one think that whilst having 13 children might be something for this lady and her husband to celebrate (if that's what they wanted) it doesn't really impress me much. Mammals do it all the time.

And from the looks of the way things are panning out there, it seems highly likely that the number of granchildren she'll end up with will run into 3 figures too.

SueBaroo · 03/06/2007 20:26

I'd say that was a fairly offensive thing to say on website for mums, tbh.

Wotz · 03/06/2007 20:29

krazykoolkazza how was this bumped after 3 days?

krazykoolkazza · 03/06/2007 23:39

SueBaroo, believe it or not I'm a mother too. I wasn't aware that mothers were an homogeneous group who react to all stimuli in exactly the same way.

Wotz, I didn't realise there was a time limit in which members had to read threads and respond to them if they wished to. I actually only log on to MN a couple of times a week at best so have a browse through what's been posted and respond to whatever catches my attention. Does that breach any MN rules?

2mum · 04/06/2007 00:02

Shes had 13 kids and looked after them well then good luck to her. I know people who have 1 or 2 kids and cant cope with looking after them and would rather be pissed or off their face on drugs and leave the childcare up to their families and im not talking teenagers im talking about grown women. So if someone can handle 13 kids and look after them and feed them then they deserve a medal not a slagging off.

SueBaroo · 04/06/2007 09:24

krazykoolkazza, I guess you've only squeezed out a couple of 'links' then.
Still, you're right, MN is a free enough place to slag off a woman for having more children than you, if that's what you want. Knock yourself out.

Judy1234 · 04/06/2007 09:48

Large families are fun. I'm glad we had 5 and I could have had more, would have if my husband had wanted that.

But looks like her eldest had a child a bit too young and presumably whilst unmarried which may not be the best start.

Some women just put on more weight with each pregnancy and others don't. She's just one of the slim ones.
She looks more UK size 6 or may be 8 to me than UK size 4 (US size 0).

noddyholder · 04/06/2007 09:49

i think shes blessed

No of course not, do and say as you wish...

I just wondered why anyone would say something so poignant like 'human sausage machine' after the thread has died 3 days before?

thanks for informing me.

I think the woman is great and so what if she has lots of children, they only need one good mother!

Wotz · 04/06/2007 11:19

sorry for bumping but that was for
krazykoolkazza

Idobelieveinfairies · 04/06/2007 19:57

She might not get any benefits actually. In the channel islands the benefit system is a lot different to England. Everything goes on earnings. If her husband is on a decent wage you don't get help.

Correct me if i'm wrong but in England you get money per child whatever the family income don't you? We don't get that here.

Food is very expensive here too, £1.29 is the norm for bread (might be a bit cheaper in the co-op) Milk is 98p per litre. And the average 4 bed house costs you £409.000!

we don't have a supermarket wars so they charge what they like here, we need an ASDA please MR ASDA!!!!

Judy1234 · 05/06/2007 08:45

They look very well looked after, those children. Only bad thing seems to be her oldest having a child very young and presumably out of wedlock etc.

Yes in England whatever you earn you get something like £12 per child (child benefit) (bit more for oldest one) per week which replaced a previous allowance tax payers could set against their tax for children to recognise (slightly) the cost of bringing them up.
