Child abduction rumours at Heaton Park

SouthernComforts · 05/11/2017 23:03

Lots of tweets and Facebook posts being shared about a missing child at Heaton Park tonight..

MEN currently reporting unknown police incident and long delays leaving the park.

Anyone know if this is a hoax or what the incident is?

Definitely not a hoax. They are searching all vehicles before anyone's allowed to leave.

Seen this on social media, can only hope it's a mixup or something. If it is true then my god I hope they find the poor girl. Sad

Posting to see any updates

I hope she's found safe... such a scary world we live in now

How odd!

BowlingShoes · 06/11/2017 00:12

I think the 129 months in that screenshot is the length of time since the poster joined, not the time of the post, which you can see was at 22.27.

If the police are looking, it sounds serious. I hope everything works out.

PointlessUsername · 06/11/2017 00:13

Chatoyant

I have just seen two seperate posts on instagram with that statement.

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 06/11/2017 00:14

The clue is in "asian man". Hoax according to twitter. Racist shit stirrers. Disgusting. I wonder if it's the same man who drops his wallet and when your mate gives it back he tells them, as a thank you, not to go to the trafford centre on x day as there will be a terrorist attack. rolls eyes

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 06/11/2017 00:16

Someone on twitter said

"Just heard it was a hoax. Same message was put on social media previously"

pisacake · 06/11/2017 00:19

"It’s bizarre. Someone responded to the original tweet with this. Same exact wording but from years ago?"

That's a posting from pistonheads

People too thick to use the internet thought it was 127 months old, rather than that being the length of the poster's forum membership

Chatoyant · 06/11/2017 00:19

Oh I think you’re right pointlessusername I wanted to believe it was a hoax! How utterly terrifying.

BriechonCheese · 06/11/2017 00:21

Apparently people were throwing fireworks into the crowd at Heaton Park too. Wtf was going on up there?

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 06/11/2017 00:21

Oh shit. I am still hoping it is indeed a hoax. If not hopefully she is found safe and sound asap!

NameChangeFamousFolk · 06/11/2017 00:22

Sorry if I'm being thick, but the whole abduction tonight is a hoax, or just that Twitter entry?

God, I hope it's a hoax.

PointlessUsername · 06/11/2017 00:26

Yes it clearly says on the link posted yesterday at 22.27.

I hope they find her asap

BowlingShoes · 06/11/2017 00:26

The official Greater Manchester Police Twitter feed says they are investigating an abduction so I doubt it's a hoax. Hopefully the child has just got separated from their parents.

pisacake · 06/11/2017 00:28

This looks like the OP

There are a lot of red flags and my instincts are it's a load of crap but won't go into too much details just in case it turns out to be true.

LaughingLlama · 06/11/2017 00:35

Its on BBC news

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

abduction alert after Manchester firework display - [[http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-41881562]]

I hope age is found soon. How terrifying.Sad

pisacake · 06/11/2017 00:36

"The official Greater Manchester Police Twitter feed says they are investigating an abduction so I doubt it's a hoax. "

No it doesn't.

They say "responding to reports of a possible child abduction" and "police were called to reports that a girl had been abducted", and "We need to be really clear about what has happened this evening".

None of which really suggests there's a child abduction.

It seems there's a report of a child abduction but no actual parents complaining their kid has been abducted.

LaughingLlama · 06/11/2017 00:36

*she not age!

MrsOverTheRoad · 06/11/2017 00:39

The police must have spoken to the parents though...or they would not say they are taking this "extremely seriously"

They just wouldn;t.
