Don't know if anyone else has started a new thread .

OP posts:

They played a little bit on the BBC not that clip though. I guess all this can be shown now that it's all over?

Nicknacky · 28/07/2017 21:46

The Daily Mail have a 5 minute montage of photos, many of which I imagine are previously unseen.

Heartbreaking, utterly heartbreaking. They are the type of photos we probably all took of our newborn.

ChattyLion · 28/07/2017 21:48

Its really upsetting that even now this poor baby has passed away, he and his family are being presented by the media as some kind of courtroom drama to boost their traffic. If any person's death is to be reported on in the media it must be done very carefully and accurately. Sad

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 21:59

i remmbr that hey outside th court

i always thought why woul they lie-still think that

hopeful31yrs · 28/07/2017 21:59

De-lurking. Have been reading these threads daily. Thank you everyone for your input.

Incredibly saddened tonight to hear the news and it's almost unbearable to look at his earlier pictures. As a parent I am grieving for them. Charlie is now free of his burden of his illness and weak body. Sleep well little one.

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 22:02

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 22:04

not accurat btw didnt say hirano gave false promises

Ellie56 · 28/07/2017 22:05

It's so sad to think a year ago Connie and Chris were excitedly awaiting the arrival of their firstborn. They could never in a million years have envisaged the tragedy that would unfold within weeks of his birth, and that the same time a year later they would be planning his funeral, not his first birthday party.

It will take them a long time to recover from this. I do hope somebody is taking good care of them, and that in time they can start the healing process well away from the media.

Poor Charlie never really had a chance. He never had a chance from the day he was born. At long last he is free from pain and at peace. Sleep tight baby boy.You made your mark on the world while you were here and you will never be forgotten. Bear

I really don't understand all this. If the parents wanted to pay for the treatment- how can a court tell them no???!!!

Balfe · 28/07/2017 22:08

The treatment was highly experimental, unlikely to work and required a terminally ill infant to be transported across the Atlantic.

ScienceNut · 28/07/2017 22:09

RIP Charlie, you were a very loved little boy.

Hope you live with the angles

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 22:09

this has been dicusd k

go back an read the links in the othr ops whre everything is explaind its not about mony

capercaillie · 28/07/2017 22:09

The best answer to that has just been stated on news - not ethical to give treatment that will be futile.

LaSourciere · 28/07/2017 22:10

There is no treatment for this illness.

It would be cruel to put a terminal baby through the journey to the US for an unproven treatment.

Medical ethics mean babies cannot be experimented on.

GabsAlot · 28/07/2017 22:12

talking about should law be changd

no id be horrified child comes first not parents family or anyone else

KindleBueno · 28/07/2017 22:13

Wee Charlie was living in pain. A wean being kept alive, that was never going to survive and be healthy whatever treatment he got and that was suffering is not right.

BubblesBuddy · 28/07/2017 22:13

K109. It is because Charlie had irreversible brain damage and it wasn't going to work. We do not allow experimentation of untried drugs on children here and the laws of this country have to be followed. Also when parents and medics cannot agree, the court has to decide. They decided he could not travel to the USA because it was not in Charlie's best interests.

If you look on www.justice,gov.uk you can find all the court transcripts and the medical evidence that was submitted to the courts. The essential thing to remember is that Charlie had to be considered first so experimentation and the views of his parents were less important than Charlie's needs when our laws are applied. Hope that makes sense.

K1092902 · 28/07/2017 22:15

Thank you. Makes more sense now.

Still utterly utterly heartbreaking. I seriously hope that little boy is looking down on his mum and dad and doing whatever he can to protect them Sad

lougle · 28/07/2017 22:17

"K1092902

Because thankfully, in this Country, children have rights to be protected from treatment that is not in their best interests. Treatment which has not yet even been tested on mice, has no likelihood of success, and will only cause or prolong suffering, is not treatment which a terminally ill baby should be subjected to.

Liadain · 28/07/2017 22:22

Poor little boy had so little time to really experience being a baby, when you think about it. I am glad now he's free of the machines, I like to think he is now somewhere where he can finally see, hear and move his body as it was intended.

No matter what we think of the parents actions, I can't deny how much they loved him. He was lucky to have all that love. I imagine they're swamped with attention now, but I hope someone is looking out for them in the upcoming months.

Horrible, horrible case. You also have to feel for the judge, guardian, lawyers and gosh staff at this point too - so much for them to cope with emotionally too.

Ellie56 · 28/07/2017 22:25

K1092902
GOSH were actually planning to apply for permission to give Charlie the treatment here before he started suffering the seizures that caused the brain damage. After that they decided the treatment would be futile.

In the UK children have rights of their own separate from their parents and in this case, what was right for Charlie came before anything his parents wanted. Parents don't have "rights" over their children, only responsibilities.

Callmejudith · 28/07/2017 22:25

I've read every one of these threads and thank all for the hugely informative posts.

RIP baby boy. You were much loved. Though I haven't agreed with everything his parents have done my overriding feeling is that I would never know how I would react in that situation.

Sleep tight little one

Overtiredbackagain · 28/07/2017 22:25

As a my to three beautiful DC, my youngest has a rare genetic condition, and whilst she makes very slow progress, so nowhere like Charlie, I feel the pain of his parents. I don't know what the future holds for my beautiful DD, but I do know I would fight to the ends of the earth for any of my DC, but I also hope I would know if I needed to let go for the best.

Tonight I have cried for dear Charlie, I have talked with my eldest two and shown them pictures and I'm fortunate that I hope to see all three grow.

Sleep peacefully now, beautiful boy. You have made such an impact on the world and you will always be remembered and loved.

My heart breaks for little Charlie and for his mum and dad. I hope Connie and Chris can find peace and strength in the days, weeks and months to come.

Rest in peace Charlie xx

Overtiredbackagain · 28/07/2017 22:27
