Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

Sorry I don't mean 'manage it' as in Charlie, I meant the situation.

Redglitter · 26/07/2017 14:39

It sounds like Connie wants a week at home/hospice so will it be a week plus time to arrange that?

Hopefully it wont just be all about her wants though. I hope the judge sets a strict timetable for things

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/07/2017 14:40

Thanks cjt

MrsSthe3rd · 26/07/2017 14:40

Surely it's not safe to just make a call regarding this expert and just believe whatever they're told over the the phone.

This is a very poorly baby and they're clutching at straws to "get what they want"

TinselTwins · 26/07/2017 14:40

Interesing post on CA from parents of a child in US who has recently been diagnosed with a similar MDNA depletion syndrome

Interesting because:
-Of the 3 experts they have approached, DrH is the one who has not replied or offered them an appointment
-None of CA have offered or asked how to help with fund raising even though this child might be early enough on in the disease to benefit! Which I would have thought would have been a fitting legacy for Charlie
-Trump, as yet, hasn't offered his private plane to get this child to its appointments with MDNA experts within the USA

teainbed · 26/07/2017 14:40

It'll be very challenging for the hospice staff to protect the other patients and families if Charlie is to be transferred there.

totallyliterally · 26/07/2017 14:40

Sorry, just reread and it was Armstrong. Saying it

Armstrong: this would be for transfer to a hospice, not a family home.

I still think they may push for hospice and then bring him home after a week there.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 26/07/2017 14:41

I don't see JF ruling today either.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/07/2017 14:41

float - it depends. I'm not sure if KGQC has a junior but they maybe able to assist

The issue here is that when there is a delay due to diary issues, it is very inconvenientl. But this is literally life or death so the judge will not want a delay. Itbmaybe ghag KGQC can have her other case delayed a bit depending on its circs

I have instructed counsel who have been involved in early stages and then not been able to do the full hearing due to other cases or mat leave. But it is very prejudicial usually if counsel has to drop out mid hearing

Sittinginthesun · 26/07/2017 14:41

I haven't posted before, but have been following on here and Twitter. I think the parents are hoping to hang on until just after his birthday. Everything else is delaying tactics.

Lucysky2017 · 26/07/2017 14:41

I would let him go to home or a hospice if the new doctor checks out. The judge has asked to see this doctor's CV. The doctor may be a volunteer and the family have said they will use agency nurses and will not need GOSH staff although some of hte GOSH nurses have volunteered.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 26/07/2017 14:41

I think the fact of the matter probably is that any expert completely unknown to GOSH, is not going to be qualified or experienced enough to care for Charlie anyway.

It's not just a matter of holding his hand until he passes is it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 14:41

Will we have to adjourn to a later date whilst he visits CG at GOSH and reviews his notes??

Unless the judge finds himself able to make an order then yes - I'd say that's almost certain

And why the disquiet about the time it will take to check the new "expert's" credentials? Surely it's obvious that this was the point in involving him?

Sirzy · 26/07/2017 14:42

One doctor wouldn't be enough anyway. It would need a team of them

...and I'm still concerned about a midnight flit too

smilingmind · 26/07/2017 14:43

One retired doctor is proposing to move into their home and work 24/7 ?
And how does this solve the problem of the ventilator not fitting through their door or the hospice not being set up for ventilation over a longer period ?

blueskyinmarch · 26/07/2017 14:43

I think JF will be very quick to ascertain whether of not this new doctor is able to provide what is needed for Charlie. He is no fool.

Wafflenose · 26/07/2017 14:43

The judge is so patient and compassionate. I would be losing my temper by now. Even if Charlie can be moved, it's going to take some days to organise, isn't it? So they're probably not planning to extubate him for another 10-14 days... Does anyone think he will be made a ward of Court?

PenguindreamsofDraco · 26/07/2017 14:43

Depends on the case/hearing, floatmyboat. We all like to think we're irreplaceable Grin but that is seldom actually so.

If it's a trial I've been involved in for years and we have to run into another day when I'm booked elsewhere, the court may accommodate me. Or I may ask my clerks to see if they can find someone else to cover the other hearing. It would be v unusual if the case continued without someone who's been involved for a long time.

On the other hand, if it's coming back for something where my input isn't critical, like handing down of judgment, I'd probably get someone to cover that, and do the original case elsewhere.

Courts do try and accommodate counsel if possible, but sometimes it just isn't possible and then as counsel you have to decide where your professional obligations lie.

GrumbleBumble · 26/07/2017 14:43

I saw an online headline earlier "judge to rule on whether Charlie gets his last wish" god the reporting of this is s**t. Charlie has not asked for this!

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/07/2017 14:43

Replying to @Vinny_LBC and @LBC
Fiona Paterson appears for GOSH today instead of Katie Gollop QC because she has another trial today.

Bourdic · 26/07/2017 14:44

But the Judge has to judge as well doesn't he? It's not just about compassion and patience is it? There's bending over backwards and there's losing the plot - where is the dividing line?

Allington · 26/07/2017 14:44

Presumably if it was at a hospice the hospice Drs would be expected to be available. Plus the room/bed. Plus their other facilities.

In the meantime there's a baby who several experts say is showing signs of pain.
