Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

Ok all. I am heading home now. Will someone else take over for me? Thanks all again for a sensible, compassionate discussion.

If he was given misleading information by someone, totally?

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 26/07/2017 16:57

Has it been established whether the hospice GOSH found were/are even willing to keep Charlie on continued life support there?

I thought the offer was to have him there to be extubated & pass away, within a short time. Not to keep him there for the desired few days - although I'm not sure if I've just assumed this or if it's actually been clarified.

GherkinSnatch · 26/07/2017 16:57

I get the feeling that JF is trying to make sure that whatever ruling he makes is watertight, but by giving the family all these opportunities to pull more "experts" out from their sleeves for GOSH to have to demonstrate why it doesn't change anything all that's happening is that things are just getting progressively more harrowing for all involved. Really, nothing has changed at all since January. But here we are, 6 months later, with a poor child languishing in hospital.

mikado1 · 26/07/2017 16:57

Tinsel, I was thinking the exact same, and described as such 're the need sometimes to step in when someone is just not capable of winding it up. I hope Charlie, and his mum and dad are at peace soon.

De lurking to say I can't believe this is still going on. I also cant believe the lawyer wouldn't call in an actual specialist in the field to discuss treating him in a hospice. Come on, its disrespectful to GOSH at this point, to pretend this could replace the type of care he's receiving at the hospital. I must wonder at their mental state right now. I read earlier that they've rejected any therapy or counselling. I really wish they'd take it up, this must be very hard on them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 16:58

JF said he would rule today unless there was substantial new evidence
There isn't

Indeed - so once again it appears he may not have meant what he said, and if this is delayed any further yet another "expert" will certainly be found

Which is why I was surprised at the much earlier post which insisted everyone's a fan of the judge

Actually no, not quite all of us Hmm

SadGuru · 26/07/2017 16:58

I'm glad CY asked for this to be in private. I hope the whole family keeps these details private to grieve out of the public eye.

Maryz, there is only connie there.

totallyliterally · 26/07/2017 16:59

@Ceto but a quick google would have shown who the person was even. Or maybe he was just forced to do it by his client I guess.

SomeDyke · 26/07/2017 16:59

Did the whole qualified doctor and team of doctors just evaporate into thin air? The only reliable evidence was the GOSH volunteer nurses and the ventilator company??

At least the judge said:
"Judge: the discussion will be about how much time Charlie will have between leaving GOSH and being extubated. It’s very private."
I assume that is/was the default plan he was asking for, and unless he hears anything different before 12:00 tomorrow(??), then the default plan operates??

I think this at least agrees with the FRIDAY date mentioned yesterday, GOSH said 'end of week' as I recall. So they seem to have stuck to that. The judge has at least managed to get agreement that home care is out of the question, and anything at hospice other than extubation.........

mikado1 · 26/07/2017 16:59

*wrapping it up not winding it up!

BubblesBuddy · 26/07/2017 16:59

I am mystified why such an experienced barrister is going into court without all the facts. The fact that CY is on her own and is presumably distressed is one reason why they are not getting very far very quickly. I think the Judge will order a day and time but the exact details will be private. If C and C can stick to that of course.

Ellie56 · 26/07/2017 17:00

Did I read somewhere where the plan was to go to the hospice for a few days then home? Shock

Despite what some are saying I still think that the judge is doing the right thing here. It's turned into such a political and media circus that he has to make it glaringly evident that the parents were given every last chance.

No matter what happens there's likely to be some horrible fallout and being able to demonstrate no failing of compassion at any point is really worthwhile.

Ceto · 26/07/2017 17:00

CGF 20 minutes ago:

Judge: considering only telling media up to point Charlie leaves GOSH, & not further to preserve privacy. Joshua Rozenberg wants it public.

BluePheasant · 26/07/2017 17:00

I really don't think Charlie should be moved. Anything likely to cause him further discomfort with no possible benefit to him should not even be a consideration. Right now he is as stable and comfortable as can be made possible thanks to the care of GOSH and that's how it should stay to the moment he passes away.

As hard as it is to say no to parents in such awful grief and distress, that is what needs to happen in order to do what is right for Charlie. I am starting to think JF is losing sight of that.

BabsGanoush · 26/07/2017 17:01

I wonder if GOSH will still have an interest in Charlie when he goes to the Hospice - just thinking that C&C may start claiming they disagree with the hospice and relations have broken down..and so the circus starts again but with a different medical setting/team....

Lucysky2017 · 26/07/2017 17:01

I think it was yesteray or this morning the judge asked to see the doctor's CV so am surprised this has come up now. They now seem to want the positon that if not agree by 4.30 on Friday then the judge rules or rules now what will happen if the agreement were not to be reached. In my view the amount of time in court however sad the case is now wasting too much time and to no one's benefit./ These parents will hate the system and the courts and hospitals no matter what is done. The baby is the priority and if he is not suffering currently then coming back on Friday at 4.30pm I suppose does not matter too much but it is dragging on.

JaneEyre70 · 26/07/2017 17:01

I think the Judge is now considering the parents wishes over Charlie's needs.

Saucery · 26/07/2017 17:02

I think it wise for the dates and times not to be public. If the family can abide by that then it's best all round.

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 26/07/2017 17:02

Puzzled I do agree with you. I wonder if what has been hoped to be a shrewd long term plan is actually turning out to be an inexperienced judge in over his head.
