This is a thread following the legal and ethical questions raised by the recent court case involving Charlie Gard.

Please could we refrain from insulting or otherwise "bashing" his parents. It isn't in the spirit of Mumsnet and will get the threads removed.

Please could we also remember that at the heart of this case is a terminally ill baby and his heartbroken parents. There are those participating in and watching this thread for whom these issues are painful. Please let's try and be mindful of them when we post. This isn't a place for name calling or trivialising the very real pain they feel. Many parents of severely disabled children are on here.

I really feel for the parents. They're in a total head-fuck situation. I just can't imagine.

I do hope they can find some comfort and care for themselves. I hope someone is looking after them.

C&C should get their solicitor to slap a restraining order on the UKIPper. asap.

I think the latest post is 'damage limitation'. It was only a couple of hours ago that LG posted a PA video in response to the GOSH statement. I hope the family get the support they need at this time to manage this media circus

I believe it's already been said in the highlighted post above - don't speak about Chris and Connie, and don't make personal attacks.

This is all so very sad.

Poor Charlie is slipping away from life and there is no circus that can change that.

What would it take for Connie and Chris to let him go I wonder?

If the police are trawling through all media best we don't go on about CA because we could end up being tarnished with the same brush. Let's re focus on Charlie and send our prayers and thoughts to him. Xx

So that UKIP guy was NOT the family's spokesperson?

From the sounds of it, he was. And then he started going off and making statements that had not been approved by the family.

If UKIP man thinks that is not an entirely fair interpretation of events I expect he'll express that perspective in due course.

This would be really helpful actually. As I don't want to put my foot in it. With regards to talking about CA - that is already out in the public domain anyway so surely it's ok to quote from it?
