user i have linked articles related to Grenfell like the fact KCTMO were going to talk to the tenants about mobility scooters Its directly related because its about the same TMO.

And the salford links are related because the cladding that was part of that refurb is now being pulled off the buildings.

HelenaDove · 27/06/2017 19:33

No worries mrsglow I suspect there is now a bit of sockpuppetry going on.

Im not saying anything different to what Pilgrim Tucker or @nearlylegal are saying.

HelenaDove · 27/06/2017 19:38

And there are many other threads about Grenfell on this site on other boards involving crass speculation I HAVE NOT POSTED ON A SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

user1496484020 · 27/06/2017 19:39

Don't bloody accuse me of sockpuppetry.

What I'm saying is that the 79 deceased are forgotten now and you've moved onto other battles. I just don't feel this thread is the place.

BishopBrennansArse · 27/06/2017 19:43

😮
Are there people out there who think that just because other relevant factors are being discussed that we've forgotten that (well over) 79 people died?

It's because of them that tenants must be heard. Safety must become paramount.

user1496484020 · 27/06/2017 19:44

Personally for example I'd like to pay tribute to 5 year old Isaac who passed away 5 floors below his 18th floor apartment. THAT is fucking tragedy. Not you arguing over whether your tumble dryer was earthed.

BishopBrennansArse · 27/06/2017 19:45

Who is saying you can't?

HelenaDove · 27/06/2017 19:46

I dont have a tumble dryer user. So you havent been reading the thread properly.

BubblesBuddy · 27/06/2017 19:47

I do not see how the tenants can be involved with appointing a Chair for the Public Inquiry. There are few people who would be competent to do this and there are judges who are buildings experts and sit in a relevant court. The building industry and everyone concerned needs answers quickly. This will not drag on because it is nowhere near the size and scope of the child abuse inquiry so you cannot compare. It is unfortunate that people are scaremongering before anything has started!

HelenaDove · 27/06/2017 19:47

Grenfell residents on the importance of being involved in the public inquiry. This clip contains footage of a funeral.

user1496484020 · 27/06/2017 19:48

I have skimmed through your posts Helena where you rant about other issues.

Bloomed · 27/06/2017 19:49

User am sure there is room for a thread on the site paying respects to victims. Why don't you start one? I would post on that as well.

HelenaDove · 27/06/2017 19:49

What Bishop said at 19.43

HelenaDove · 27/06/2017 19:51

They are issues where tenants are not listened to so directly related.

I would also contribute to a thread paying respect to the victims . Why dont you start one as Bloomed suggested.

user1496484020 · 27/06/2017 19:53

Because this thread should be about that.

user1496484020 · 27/06/2017 19:56

Look, I'll leave you to discuss HAs here at your will. It's disrespectful to those who have actually lost their lives, but I'll leave you to it.

cathf · 27/06/2017 19:58

I agree user. This thread is now one person's personal echo chamber, and any opinion is clearly not welcome. Nothing whatsoever to do with Grenfell Tower.
I also agree with Bubbles - of course the victims should not he involved with choosing the chair of the inquiry! It's supposed to be an impartial hearing, not a therapy session.

mrsglowglow · 27/06/2017 19:59

Bubbles the residents are not asking to be involved in the choosing but they do wish to be consulted. Of course they are not experts in the building courts but they need assurances that those appointed will be. They will have a QC acting for them I presume and why shouldn't they be consulted before the inquiry begins. Why can't this inquiry start off in a better way than previous ones. I'm not scaremongering just going on the track record of historic cases.

mrsglowglow · 27/06/2017 20:07

Ssee to me Cath your comment re 'therapy session' is what I consider crass.

BishopBrennansArse · 27/06/2017 20:13

'Therapy session'?
That's unbelievable.
Why shouldn't they have some say? Would someone appointed by the government be impartial? Absolutely not.

HelenaDove · 27/06/2017 20:20

Pilgrim Tucker has made an appeal for laptops. Does anyone on this thread have one they can spare?

RedToothBrush · 27/06/2017 20:23

An anonymous comes on and says "don't talk about something I don't like".

Well, no. MN doesn't work like that.

Helena's comments are very relevant to the topic about how legitimate complaints from residents are part of a bigger picture. The Grenfell tenants wanted to be heard and feared a disaster would be the only way that grievances would be heard.

Would you prefer that Helena was a good little girl and shut up in this background context? You know like how the council and the management company wanted.

There are many people who might read this thread who have NO IDEA of the type of problem the residents and other social housing tenant face. Or there are many who do face them but want to know that others are fighting for them in the wake of Grenfell. It is important to hear the type of thing Helena says, and make sure it reaches a wider audience than being stuffed away on a much more specialist and narrow thread.

There is no rule on MN that you have to stick exactly to talking about the thread title and can not deviate from that. In fact general discussion around a core topic is often extremely valuable and welcome by other users.

There are lots of threads running about Grenfell which are more specific. This one is the most general one. The politics around Grenfell NEED to be discussed.
