They were outside but now the crowds have all entered the civic centre town hall

I am not surprised that this is happening

Stuff your shame up your arse, Draylon.
Can you name an instance where blatant disregard for 300 people in social housing led to an enormous number of needless horrific deaths and where the local council did precisely fuck all beyond bleat platitudes, send out letters about No Ball Games and be conspicuous by their absence?

Come back to me when you can, eh?

Highalert · 16/06/2017 17:53

What else have they got to lose? Might as well kick some arse before everyone goes back to dismissing them again.

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2017 17:54

Highalert they were voiceless. But no worries, I'm sure "lessons will be learned" yet again.

Maudlinmaud · 16/06/2017 17:54

TM had some very heavy abuse levelled at her just now.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 16/06/2017 17:54

They have lost everything.

They have been ignored, belittled and threatened with legal action for years. They warned about this and their concerns were brushed aside.

And now their lives loved ones are dead - quite possibly for the sake of saving £5000.

How people can expect calm, rational behaviour from them is beyond me

THIS. EXACTLY THIS!

Tiredemma · 16/06/2017 17:54

The local residents are also unlikely to hold the emergency services in high regard as to them, they told families to stay put.

I would imagine they will have just as much anger to them as they do the council

LaurieFairyCake · 16/06/2017 17:54

'Violence isn't the answer'

I'm not sure passivity or apathy is the answer either.

Imo this is a direct result of the increasing wealth gap and the lack of social mobility.

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2017 17:55

Yes Laurie. Exactly.

Saucery · 16/06/2017 17:55

And yes, Stealth, does it mean violence? Or just a stand to say this is unacceptable. So far beyond unacceptable it might as well be waving to Unacceptable from the fucking Moon.

They are invading the council offices, not someone's front room.

WorshipTheGourd · 16/06/2017 17:56

herethereandeverywhere
My privileged 'friend' was banging on about the communities 'lack of effort to improve their lot'! Angry
I tried to explain how legal aid had been cut, authorities ignore you, threaten you (re housing etc) how you can easily be 'disempowered' even if you are not outright lied to.
He simply didn't 'get' it.
If you have had no experience of it and are confident you never will, you never need to. Alright for some.
I am sorry your family had personal experience of the tragedy that was Hillsborough and the scandal that was the way it was handled.
I would never blindly 'trust the authorities' on anything, personally.
I DO think the Borough should be doing more and be seen to be doing more, if they want to avoid escalation of public feelings.

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2017 17:56

For those disagreeing with civil unrest can you tell me how exactly these people should get their voices heard?
Bit late now but still good to know

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 16/06/2017 17:56

I'm not sure passivity or apathy is the answer either.

I agree but it's not a black or white choice between that and violence.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/06/2017 17:56

God Draylon that's horrific Sad The idea that they were told fire doors would protect them and they would be rescued. It's just the worst thought ever.

sparechange · 16/06/2017 17:56

What else have they got to lose? Might as well kick some arse before everyone goes back to dismissing them again

Are you really so spectacularly short sighted as to not be able to see the negative consequences of a group of mostly BME mostly men, rioting because the fire brigade haven't given them answers quick enough?

PortiaCastis · 16/06/2017 17:56

FFS how on earth does anyone know who voted for who?

This is a terrible terrible incident and scoring disgusting points about folk being poor is shameful

endofthelinefinally · 16/06/2017 17:57

Where I live there are literally hundreds of new flats standing empty. Loads of new blocks of luxury flats that nobody local can afford. There are similar all over London. Surely something could be worked out?

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2017 17:57

I have no experience. I live in as much of a bubble as is possible without someone wiping my bum for me. But I can see it now.

It's not a black and white choice Hedge I agree. I think people are too passive, too apathetic.

Theresnonamesleft · 16/06/2017 17:57

The faith in the authorities has worked well so far.

They might not be all from the tower. Some will be. Others friends and family of those living in the tower.

whattodowiththepoo · 16/06/2017 17:57

Ultra emotional drama. Ugh stop

Highalert · 16/06/2017 17:58

I think some on on here think they should just write a stern email to their MPs or maybe write a letter to the Times.
