Poor woman. Poor family.

ZZMum · 16/03/2007 21:04

there is a third child which can only make you think/hope it was the stress that killed her and not her own hand... she is at peace I hope but how must her DH be feeling? this is a tragedy beyond comprehension

How sad. Hope she's finally at peace now and with her little boys. I think she had a daughter.

This is desperately sad, whether she died of her own hand or because of the stresses of false imprisonment. I hope those who contributed to condemning her wrongly are happy with their actions now.

kandi · 16/03/2007 21:31

How dreadful, poor lady, it's all so tragic

Spidermama · 16/03/2007 21:38

God how awful.

When her sentence was overturned I remember thinking, a hollow gesture almost. What's done is done. That woman is ruined.

Of course she could never have recovered from what she went too. Imagine going through what she went through and being alone with your thoughts every night.

British 'justice' failed her so badly. In fact a great many people failed her. I hope lessons are learned.

hunkermunker · 16/03/2007 21:41

How horribly sad.

There's just nothing right about it, is there?

Poor things - all of them

pollypeachum · 16/03/2007 21:46

what the fuck.

we were in the same class at law school.

on the strength of what i knew about her, there was no way that she could have done what she was wrongly convicted of doing.

i was left cold to my bones about what happened to her: after law school she went to work for clifford chance (i think) certainly one of the "magic circle" City law firms. if, even with her knowledge and undoubted connections, she couldn't avoid what happened to her, what chance does anyone have.

I remember seeing some 'before and after' pictures of her when she was released and she looked... haunted.

To be locked up as a killer while grieving must have been so, so

I've lost a child and, knowing the rawness of it, to be wrongfully convicted on top of that pain must have been unbearable. Quite literally.

Just seen this on the news. So tragic.

pollypeachum · 16/03/2007 22:19

is there anything constructive to be done for her family?

i'm very bad at ideas and to be honest suspect that they have had enough, and that the well-intentioned meddling of strangers won't help. but even so...?

PrincessPeaHead · 16/03/2007 22:22

I was so shocked and upset to see this. Her life was completely ruined by that appalling man and his "evidence". To have to cope with the grief of the death of your children WHILE being accused, and sentenced, for their murder is unimaginable.
Terrible, terrible.

PrincessPeaHead · 16/03/2007 22:23

If I was them I would batten down the hatches and try and live life without talking to any single other stranger ever again.

There is nothing that can be done

PeachyClair · 16/03/2007 22:27

Pollyeachum are you OK? Because you knew her once didnt you, and even after some time this could be an awful shock for you?

I would have thought the best thing we can do is support littlelapins fundraising, so we can start to know enough about SIDS that this never need happen to anyone again

pollypeachum · 16/03/2007 22:31

peachy thank you. you are so right about supporting littlelapin's fundraising as as the way of doing something positive.

ElenyaTuesday · 16/03/2007 22:33

This is so sad. I wish I could believe that Roy Meadows was tearing himself apart with guilt for his "evidence" at her trial but no doubt he is far too arrogant. I feel so sorry for her and her family - their torment must have been horrendous.
