Margaret Fleming- missing for 17 years?!

A woman with learning disabilities was reported missing 6 weeks ago, apparently after the DWP knocked on her door.

She lived with 2 carers and was reported to be a recluse.

But now it is being reported that no one else has seen her since 1999 and the police are digging up the garden.

I know mn has rules about not speculating but

It could be that the answers they were getting in interview made no sense so they decided to do a quick bit of geo-phys on the garden (easiest way to dispose of a body undetected).

They could zero in on a suspicious area very quickly that way.

If they actually had confessions, there probably would have been charges by now.

Manumission · 17/12/2016 02:18

That was mainly in answer to Jen.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 02:24

I noticed in one of the articles I found a neighbour stated that the woman carer was big into her gardening and "ran" (not sure what that means whether commercial or private) a big greenhouse. So it would have been a very convenient cover for any freshly dug ground.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 02:25

I also can't help but notice the gigantic fucking lake behind their house.

Manumission · 17/12/2016 02:25

It's chilling isn't it?

Such an ordinary looking street.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 02:26

Chilling is right. That no-one who knows them has ever heard her mentioned bar one reference to her in 17 years says it all.

Bejazzled · 17/12/2016 02:28

Jen not a lake - it's the River Clyde

nothing to do with the carers, no not at all

Manumission · 17/12/2016 02:29

It doesn't seem a very sophisticated plan though. I wonder if they planned how to (not) answer police questions if they were ever arrested?

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 02:30

Ahh thanks bejazzled. I don't know the area at all.

Manumission · 17/12/2016 02:30

whoever the perpetrators of any crime were, if there were any, I mean.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 02:36

The plan was probably exactly what has happened: any officials poke around, report her missing, say she stays away a lot and doesn't tell them where.

A quick look at her bank account will tell a story. Either they handled her money for her which will show (if she has been around until a few weeks ago) no withdrawals since the time they claim she went missing (because she won't have been there to ask them to get her money or to incurr any expenses) or she handled her own money which will give an idea of where and when she last withdrew money.

my bet is the money has been withdrawn right up until they reported her missing

Manumission · 17/12/2016 02:49

I bet you're right.

Pluto30 · 17/12/2016 02:55

If they actually had confessions, there probably would have been charges by now.

I'd say it's likely someone else tipped them off about the backyard. I don't think they've got a confession yet.

Manumission · 17/12/2016 03:04

I don't think they would even need a tip off TBH.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 03:05

Interesting that when the DWP first arrived to visit Margaret the carers said she had left the house an hour earlier. She was reported missing later that day. Odd thing to do for someone who they claim stays away regularly and doesn't tell them who with or where.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 03:07

Also, rubbish piled 3ft high in her bedroom (including paperwork under The floorboards?) to the extent that police couldn't get in and had to remove the exterior wall to gain access. Margaret wasn't sleeping in that room.

Manumission · 17/12/2016 03:10

Just an hour? I didn't realise. No that was odd/stupid.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 03:12

Just what I've read in about five few articles from googling. Of course, there is no guarantee these journalists are verifying this before publishing.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 03:13

in a few not sure where the five came from!

IneedAqueenMortificadoNickname · 17/12/2016 03:16

Gosh. How tragic :(

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 10:27

It was 17 years ago today that she was last seen by anyone other than the carers. Police have issued a fresh appeal for anyone who might have seen her During the last 17 years.

LillyLollyLandy · 17/12/2016 10:51

It's not looking good. Poor woman, not missed by a single person in 17 years.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/12/2016 11:01

The fall out with her Mum/grandparents must have been very bad for them not to try and contact her in 17 years. I've seen no mention of her Mum making a comment in any of those articles. Very sad. Reminds me of that woman who died in her flat and no-one noticed fora long time.

Bejazzled · 17/12/2016 11:19

Poor woman. No one in the village has ever seen her or spoken to her. What a cruel waste of a life

Beebeeeight · 17/12/2016 14:00

The house is out with the main village to be fair.

She was originally from port Glasgow a few miles along the coast so it's likely no one in inverkip ever knew her.

Given that she was living with her dad until he died when she was around 15 it seems she was already estranged from her mum as a child.

I find the comments from avril's family chilling. Just no comment. No denials or 'she was/is so nice'.

Also the make carer was a diver.

And they went on lots of long car journeys abroad.

The garden is maybe just a process of elimination.
