Chat: Jade -- was it all staged?

Interesting.

Jade usually struggles to string a sentence together. But on 'first' showing of all the media clips she was incredibally articulate and contrite.

And didn't say the obvious -- where is everyone?

Thoughts...

i think thats what it said in the sun this morning that also when she was told she was being evicted that wasnt live either

lucykate · 20/01/2007 11:16

it was so obviously not live, her interview was pre recorded, edited and scripted.

she should have been thrown to the lions. are channel 4 going to do the same for the others, ie danielle and jo, when they are evicted. if they don't, and there are audiences there, i suspect that the general publics feeling will be vented towards them both instead, as jade has been somewhat sheltered from it.

sweetmonkey · 20/01/2007 11:17

here

aDad · 20/01/2007 11:17

yep all pre-thought answers. Obviously aware of what had been going on. Even when jade and shilpa 'made up' in the house - i think they had both been told what was going on outside. IMO anyway.

lulumama · 20/01/2007 11:18

she would have been warned, definitely that there were no crowds.and she had an inkling herself. davina could have been harder on her, but at least they showed her her nastiness . don't think they should have shown her best bits though.

sweetmonkey · 20/01/2007 11:19

i dont think davina was allowed to be harder on her as they both have the same management company/agent.

Ceebee74 · 20/01/2007 11:20

Absolutely - as was the 'making up' between Jade and Shilpa. Am very disappointed in BB/C4 for this - do they think we are stupid???

munz · 20/01/2007 11:20

"I'm disgusted in myself for saying what I have just seen myself saying. I do not approve of any of my actions and I do not approve of the words that came out of my mouth."

that if u ask me is a scripted and staged statement. she should have thought more before she acted.

MamazonAKAfatty · 20/01/2007 11:24

I think that she is well aware of all that happens on BB. she was on it before and has been paid to report on all teh BB's sinc so she is well aware of how it works.

She was asked about the audience in the diary room and she said that yes she would like an audience there. But when she was talking to Davina (and yes it was live otherwise they couldn't say it was- and there is ALWAYS an hours break between revealing who is to be evicted and who leaves) she realised there were no crowd noises and that clealry there was no audience. she said that "omg things must be so bad they can't have a crowd"

so yes im sure she had planned what to say but i do not think it woudl have been scripted for her. if you watched the interview she got so many words wrong and she was trying to sound as articulate as possible and kept tripping up.

she had been spoken to by BB and so she realised how what she had said in the house would have sounded out here and, as she had already been through this media hate campaign felt it best to try and speak directly to Shilpa.
i think it was very brave of her to admit what she had said and to try and resolve the issue...yes she had her own reasons for doing it but who hasn't.

I think this is one over exagerated storm in a teacup and she is being the scape goat for what society has become

satine · 20/01/2007 11:26

I think we saw the real Jade in the house, and all this contrition and apologising is entirely staged by the people who stand to lose money if she disappears into obscurity.

clemsterdarcy · 20/01/2007 11:29

I felt her PR briefing had been ...

Show shock -- "That's intense..."

Don't justify -- "I cannot dignify..."

Convey shame -- "I am disgusted..."

Appeal to yout 'maternal' side -- "I've got 2 children..."

Frankly, I feel BB HAD to intervene to dampen this. I actually feel sorry for Jade wait, don't react because she is really rather pitiful, is utterly out of her depth and in a way was created and destroyed by BB.

I absolutely do not condone her behaviour.

I understand WHY she goes on the offensive though .... it is atavistic in her. Plus reflects her upbringing ... shout first, listen later, I am always right, you are putting me down etc etc etc.

We should look to Shilpa who's response has been to understand the demons that rule Jade -- and try to forgive. Hard though that is, such dignity would eclipse the hatred.

belgianmama · 20/01/2007 11:33

Yes also thought she seemed unnatural. Talking about not being able to justify herself etc... It's just not the type of vocabulary she normally uses. Also she kept repeating the same few sentences

LittleSarah · 20/01/2007 11:33

She was definitely briefed, and worse, advised on what to say. Throughout the whole thing I kept thinking how calm she was and media savvy she seemed.

lulumama · 20/01/2007 11:33

her PR and advisors are as much to blame for throwing her to the wolves...she is too meedja savvy now, she would have known that she was being brought in to shake things up

and she was revelling in her position as queen of the house. just not got the foresight to look beyond her words and see the consequences.

TBH, the only thing she has said that struck a chord with me, was when her mum was in the house and she said something about feeling like she had to be the mum, and that her mum was the child.

apart from that, she has dug her own grave and i have not an iota of sympathy for her

her gravy train has hopefully stopped.

burstingbug · 20/01/2007 11:35

It was very edited, dh pointed out how Jade was in one position one moment in the interview, showed you a clip of her leaving the house at the end, then being in a total different position when it went back to her. You could see the join in the editing where they had cut and restuck the tape

paulaplumpbottom · 20/01/2007 11:56

It was all a bit too articulate for Jade Goody.

worleygig · 20/01/2007 12:11

ditto paulaplumpbottom, thats exactly what dp and i said as we watched last night.
whlst in the diary room bb were promting her to talk to shilpa, i dont think she would have made upotherwise. and then to go to the diary room and tell bb they had made up??
all completly staged i feel.

Greensleeves · 20/01/2007 12:23

"We should look to Shilpa who's response has been to understand the demons that rule Jade -- and try to forgive. Hard though that is, such dignity would eclipse the hatred."

PMSL. Pseuds Corner, anyone?

I couldn't care less about any of them. Bunch of money-grubbing soulless freakazoids.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 20/01/2007 12:24

I think it was all staged, from beginning to end. The bitching, the saying it was racist then saying it wasn?t racist, the nastyness. I think it was intended to create a storm but channel4 underestimated the power of the viewing public. I think they thought that by getting jade to go in and act the way she did (and let?s face it she?d done it before so c4 knew what would happen when she went in there) it would keep cbb in the media. But I don?t think they anticipated the volume of complaints/the strength of feeling among the viewers.

And no it wasn?t live ? even the live feeds aren?t live they?re broadcast with an approx 30 second delay after c4 were bollocked last year by ofcom for bad language during the daytime broadcasts. So it?s delayed so they can cut out things like bad language/violence if they have to.

JoolsToo · 20/01/2007 12:27

call me a cynic but they will have taken her aside and said this is how it is.

We have to ask you these questions and these are the answers that everyone needs to hear.

LIZS · 20/01/2007 12:35

of course it was staged ! They didn't specify the timescale for eviction and hardly anyone had moved from the announcement to when Jade was told to leave suggesting a lot less than an hour passed between the two. Bet the agent was on hand to debrief her before the interview. She was far too primed with the pc things to say and less gobby, foul and indignant than might have been expected. The interview was on a delay too - there was bad continuity towards the end suggesting it was hastily editted.

clemsterdarcy · 20/01/2007 23:39

Greensleves -- I don't know what Pseuds corner means. Please elaborate.

I apologise if my opinion irritated you, it was well intended.

What did they show on E4 in the intervening hour from announcement of evictee to eviction?

puffling · 20/01/2007 23:47

I heard the whole house was briefed on the furore outside. All housemates apparently had their agents in to discuss where to go from there and also apparently it took Shilpa and her management 3 hours to agree to accept Jades's apology.
