so why did Preston have sense of humour failure?

Ahh, but Simon Amstell is a complete twat!! He cannot do sarcasm whatsoever - everything that comes out of his mouth just sounds like a blatant insult... I often wondered on T4 how many guests wanted to smack him!

Aloha · 11/01/2007 16:32

aah, he really loves his wife. I suspect he would have taken any amount of sarcasm about himself, but not her. I think it's rather sweet actually.

filthymindedvixen · 11/01/2007 16:33

I am not an Ordinary Boys fan. And I think Chantelle and her ilk are fairly repellent - but think it's rather sweet he stuck up for her by storming off. I reckon it's one thing to have the piss taken out of you , another to have the piss taken out of your wife/husband/partner/girlfriend whatever....

(though PMSL at the 'extract' from her 'autobiography'
More fool the fecking eejits who buy those sort of books IMO)

bundle · 11/01/2007 16:34

I agree it's sweet, but he could have smiled sweetly and said love is blind.. - I mean, no one goes on there thinking they're going to come off scot-free, do they?

I'm quite looking forward to seeing the member of the audience take part..

snap!

Aloha · 11/01/2007 16:37

I think there should be a limit to what anyone with any self-esteem and dignity puts up with. I like the programme and Bill Bailey etc, but I do think that some people just humiliate themselves totally on the show because they think it is a good career move. It never works. I would hate to see my husband lapping up a lot of insults aimed at me.

filthymindedvixen · 11/01/2007 16:38

is MN being ridiculously slow for anyone else at the mo?

what aloha just said

bundle · 11/01/2007 16:40

but no one with any dignity/self esteem would write such tripe and have it published

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/01/2007 16:42

Absolutely Aloha. Dont like this new chappie one iota.

Aloha · 11/01/2007 16:42

Well, obviously she didn't write it! And she was presumably paid a lot of money to have it published.

Flossam · 11/01/2007 16:47

aloha! You are back! Lovely to see you although I am suspecting I may be somewhat behind here...

merrily · 11/01/2007 16:49

hmmm yes she was paid a lot of money to have her book published, and no doubt they were paid a lot of money for their wedding photos too.

I quite liked Preston on CBB last year, but when he came out and proposed to his girlfriend, then changed his mind and proposed to Chantelle instead, then got married 6 months later and sold the photos to Hello or OK or whichever magazine it was, I became rather cynical about the whole affair...

FWIW I think Simon Amstell is fabulous!

kittylette · 11/01/2007 16:50

i think its sweet

if my df sat there and allowed someone to tale the piss out of me id lamp 'im! lol

kittylette · 11/01/2007 16:50

preston is gorgeous btw

Aloha · 11/01/2007 16:51

God, Flossam, so addicted! Worse than ever, I think.
It's PPH's fault. I blame her completely.
Anyway, back to the burning issues of the day ...
I have dreadful soft spot for Preston and Chantelle since watching them fall in love so sweetly on BB.

Aloha · 11/01/2007 16:53

I thought it was all rather Jane Austen. They were chaperoned the whole time so they couldn't do anything except have conversations and look yearningly at each other. He was promised to another and tried very hard to keep his promise. She didn't make a move on him because he was with someone else... Very Sense and Sensibility, only with Reality TV and short skirts.

bundle · 11/01/2007 16:54

of course she was paid a lot of money to have something written in her name (she may have suggested some ideas i spose) - that makes it even more totally fair game

OP posts:
Aloha · 11/01/2007 16:55

Well, yes, if she was on the show she would expect to have the piss taken out of her and that would be her choice. But they were expecting him to laugh along as they insulted his wife. He didn't. Good for him!

bundle · 11/01/2007 16:56

there's nothing very sweet about watching your boyfriend fall in love with someone else on telly, the guy's an arse

OP posts:
southeastastra · 11/01/2007 16:56

argh did anyone see chantelle on bb big mouth last night with that poor pet dog! russell asked if he could have a go with it! hehe

bundle · 11/01/2007 16:57

if he had 2 brain cells he could have taken teh piss out of the publisher who paid shedloads to put her name on the book. no one is interested in preston, he was only on the show imo because of his association with her, that's what makeshim - ahem - "interesting" to people

OP posts:
Aloha · 11/01/2007 17:03

I don't think it is dreadful to fall in love with someone else if you are 24 and just going out with someone. Horrible to cheat behind someone's back, yes, but people do fall in love. I thought they were remarkably circumspect given their obvious feelings for each other.
Would you like your husband to accept his friends taking the piss out of you? I'd think it was intolerable.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 11/01/2007 17:08

What's laughable about that quote anyway? M&S is expensive to some of us!!
