Just read on teletext that Jordan's son Harvey is in a burns unit after an accident at home.
Nothing on news sites yet, though

Oh dear that's terrible poor little boy. It must be fairly bad to be in burns unit!

Macdog · 02/01/2007 05:58

Seems like we are the only mumsnetters at the moment!! Are you in the UK and a very early riser? We're in Cuprus so we're 2 hours ahead of everyone else!

Just googled about Harvey but still nothing yet!

I'm in Scotland and suffering insommnia. Been up since 3am. Been watching rotten telly and surfing MN.
Weather still really stormy here, how is it with you?

It's cool and fresh but sunny. From about 10am to 3pm it's quite warm but the mornings and the evenings can be quite cold.

The houses don't have central heating as it's obviously not needed for most of the year so we rely on portable gas heaters and an open fire - very romantic! From end of Feb thought it should start warming up so can't complain

Macdog · 02/01/2007 06:08

Sounds nice! We've had weather like this !!
New Years Eve parties were cancelled all over and a lot of damage was done, not to us or ours though

Macdog · 02/01/2007 06:19

sameshitdifferentyear · 02/01/2007 09:35

It must have been a bad burn if he's in a burns unit. Poor Harvey. He's been through so much.

GodRestYeMerryNORTHERNERs · 02/01/2007 09:38

Terrible news! Poor Katie and Harvey - hope he's not too bad.

GodRestYeMerryNORTHERNERs · 02/01/2007 09:51

Doesn't the word burns indicate he was in some sort of fire? If it was hot water it would be a scald wouldn't it?

Or did I make that up? [half asleep emoticon]

NewMoonOnMonday · 02/01/2007 10:06

You can have terrible burns from accidents that don't involve fires. My ex-p's mum has a dreadful burn all down one side of her body from a chip fat spillage when she was 4.

zephyrcat · 02/01/2007 10:12

Poor little lad I hope the tabloids don't turn this into some sort of 'unfit mother' fiasco. From interviews I've seen and read of Katie and Peter they are really fab parents/

NewMoonOnMonday · 02/01/2007 10:17

I hope that doesn't happen either zephyrcat. Hopefully it's a case of KP being wealthy and having Harvey looked after at a burns unit out of precaution rather than necessity.

2shoes · 02/01/2007 12:06

i do hope he is ok. poor family they need some good luck.

paulaplumpbottom · 02/01/2007 12:40

No matter what else I think of her I don't think anyone can accuse her of being a bad mother.

TheDevilsAdvocate · 02/01/2007 13:17

The press might be assuming it is burns because he is in a burns unit but they also deal with scalds or any major injury involving damage to or loss of skin.

Poor kid whatever it is.

Jimjams2 · 02/01/2007 13:24

He has severe special needs- he'll probably be more at risk of incidents like this It would be terrible if the tabloids turned nasty over it.

I had a bad burn on my arm from a cup of tea when I was 9. scalds/burns treated the same way(ish).

Jimjams2 · 02/01/2007 13:24

oh fio aready said that!

MummyPenguin · 05/01/2007 16:06

An update on Harvey. He sustained his burns when he slipped away from Katie and Peter at a family gathering. Harvey got into the bath, fully clothed, and ran scalding water over himself which stripped his right leg of skin from below the knee. It is unclear how long he remained in the water, but his injuries were inadvertently made worse by his frantic rescuer pulling his clothes off, taking skin too. There are fears that he may have scarring for life.

Poor Harvey. He's been through more in his short life than most of us go through in a lifetime.
