Petition

Women in the UK must be free to work, travel and live free of sexual violence

Recently, women across the EU were subjected to mass sexual assaults of a type previously unknown in Europe. We demand that Government brings forward proposals for extra measures to uphold UK women's rights, safety & freedom, and to expand police understanding-recognition-response to such behaviour.

A possible new low in the ongoing saga. The use of a child in this one is rage inducing.

"Migrant abducts mother's four-year-old son at Austrian swimming pool and molests her when she goes to find him in latest terrifying sex attack"

Scatter, that is truly horrifying.

How can people actually defend this? And why have the police not given some loud messages about intolerances of adherent behaviour?

Just awful, beyond dreadful. what on earth can be done.

Moreshabbythanchic · 09/03/2016 20:15

I think there should be stricter jail sentences, followed by immediate deportation, that's if they can prove where they come from of course.

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 09/03/2016 20:35

MORE where to house them in prison, with so many numbers, need to build new prisons??
Then its the cost of court, detention etc.

There was some figure quoted that "problem" families cost 100 grand a year? I cant remember, how much are these sex attackers going to cost their host nations? Where does all the money come from? Germany boasted its rich, thats great, but are all the other countries able to financially take this on?

its hideous, how on earth can they stop it ( the host nations?)

'Play about a French Muslim president hits nerve in Germany'
uk.news.yahoo.com/play-french-muslim-president-hits-nerve-germany-060331424.html?nhp=1

'Stage adaptations of French author Michel Houellebecq's novel "Submission", in which a Muslim president takes power in 2022 France, have been a hit in Germany where a huge Mideast refugee influx has stoked fears of the impact of Islamic culture.'
'Houellebecq, through this central character, "asks us provocatively: what values do you have in your culture that really mean anything to you?"

I posted upthread about a play that has hit nerve in Germany. I found the review of the book Michel Houellebecq’s ‘Submission’ in the NYT Sunday Book Review nov 2 2015

In tbe report from Innsbruck I see that the Green party spokesperson's reported action is to hand out reassuring leaflets to counteract scaremongering.

Receiving such a leaflet would disgust me I have to say. If i were a voter I would demand that she reassure me the Greens would be pushing for harsh sentences and deportation of those guilty of violence and / or rape.

MariscallRoad · 09/03/2016 21:37

Good BBC reporting by Christian Frazer. 'Migrant crisis: Macedonia shuts Balkans route' www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35763101
13,000 are stuck at Idomeni and many tens of thousands inside Greece.

MariscallRoad · 09/03/2016 22:12

Some news now: 10 h ago Tusk President of the EU Council tweeted
'Irregular flows of migrants along the western balkan troute have come to an end. Not a question of unilateral actions but common EU28 decision'

Quaintessential indeed in some countries there is severe punishment. This article shows countries where rape is is punishable by death, in at least 10 countries today
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_regarding_rape#Punishment_of_victims

MariscallRoad · 09/03/2016 22:34

It this section that has punishment of assailants of rape
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_regarding_rape#Punishment_of_assailants

Moreshabbythanchic · 09/03/2016 23:22

Has the west become too liberal do you think? Prison is no longer a punishment to many, in fact its often seen as an easy option. Maybe that's a whole new thread.

TheNewStatesman · 10/03/2016 01:12

"Instead of segregating swimming pools, I think all migrant men should be banned outright from using or attending."

Even if you banned all non-EU residents from pools (which is already a bit legally dodgy, I think), this will no longer work once people get residency (which the majority probably will). And no decent and civilized society can ban on grounds of ethnicity, appearance or religion.

The most likely consequence is that in particular areas where a large number of harassment incidents have occurred, what will happen is that some pools, gyms and leisure centers will start to be segregated by gender or at least start to have women-only times. There are, of course, many problems with this as well, but it's hard to see what else proprietors can do. They have their bottom line to think of as well.
