Apparently it violated their air space and ignored repeated warnings.

'Should we be scared? '

It is serious, but I don't think we need to be scared yet. I don't think any wider war is imminent.

claig · 24/11/2015 17:03

Live from Austin Texa starting right now, the Alex Jones Show - 3 or 4 hours worth of analysis. Worth a listen, but he does tend to go over the top. Says it could escalate to WW3 or WW4 situation.

claig · 24/11/2015 17:04

Alex Jones is one of the world's top conspiracy researchers, so don't listen if you prefer the Daily Mail's analysis.

DoctorTwo · 24/11/2015 17:09

You may recall that Russian sources spent some months circulating the false story that the Malysian plane MH17 was shot down by Ukrainian fighter jets. It was even planted on Mumsnet.

BBC video with eyewitness interviews. The video was apparently broadcast on 23/7/14.

RT is reporting that the Turkmen rebels have claimed they shot the pilots as they were parachuting down. Sad

FreeWorker1 · 24/11/2015 17:11

NATO may well split with France and Germany wishing to have better relations with Russia than the US.

Turkey is meanwhile is backed by the US but France and Germany opposed Turkey joining the EU.

Not sure where that leaves the UK especially if we leave the EU. I guess siding with the US.

TendonQueen · 24/11/2015 17:18

So is Turkey just flat out lying about 'consulting' NATO before shooting the plane down?

Also, anyone got a quick explanation of who the Turkmen are and what they want?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 24/11/2015 17:28

My DD is very interested in Nostradamus. He had predicted a 28 year war followed by 1,000 years of peace. Now whether you believe in premonitions of not. It can't be argued that he's never been wrong before .So just on that basis alone. I'm terrified

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 24/11/2015 17:36

Looking at the map that the turkish government released, the area of turkish airspace that the jet allegedly passed through is tiny! A fighter jet travelling 600mph would pass through in less than a minute or so. 10 warnings my arse.

Jets and ships pass through restricted waters/air space all the time and what happens? The sovereign country escorts them out!

I think it was deliberate. What threat could a fighter jet that close to the border possibly impose? Would be a different story if the jet was heading straight through the centre of Turkey!

'Are conspiracy theorists from Texas (God help us) and Daily Mail journalists not one and the same?'

Daily Mail journalists are nothing compared to the Texans. Alex Jones's twitter handle is TheRealAlexJones. Nuff said. Grin

He gets stuff wrong and goes over the top, but he knows lots of stuff and lots of people. Ron Paul is coming on today's show later to talk about the economy.

'I'm a Californian. Texans send shivers down my spine.'

Yup, Californians are laid back, Alex Jones is hyper. It's the Lone Star State, the Yellow Rose of Texas. Jones says Bush is no Texan, he is East Coast, he's not Lone Star State.

claig · 24/11/2015 17:53

'I think it was deliberate.'

I agree which is why it must have been approved and is a tremendous escalation and must have been entered into fully knowing what the consequences might be. Hollande is in America right now trying to get everyone on the same side against Isis and then this happens.

I am in Lincolnshire near lots of airbases and there is significant military presence in the sky tonight....I really hope the low flying fighter jets are just practicing! I am a wee bit scared!

claig · 24/11/2015 18:07

'I'm going to give Alex Jones a listen.'

Watch out! It is a real culture shock. When I first started listening to him over 16 years ago, I thought he must be off his rocker and that none of what he said could possibly be true (I believed the Daily Mail), but I learned slowly that he knew a lot of what he was talking about.

'I'm a Bernie Sanders lover. '

I like Bernie because he has a different perspective. But I'm for Donald Trump through and through. If he makes it, the whole world will change for the better, no more pointless wars and great economic growth for America and the rest of the world.

We are living in momentous times of change. Who wins and what happens will determine everyone's future.

suzannecaravaggio · 24/11/2015 18:13

I have a good collection of tin foil hats but I cant listen to AJ
he's just too
too..
manic and apocalyptic

suzannecaravaggio · 24/11/2015 18:14

it's not the content, it's the delivery!

claig · 24/11/2015 18:15

'it's not the content, it's the delivery!'

Yes, he is hyper and he does go over the top. But there is also good analysis among the rest. It's not BBC, it's TheRealAlexJones.

suzannecaravaggio · 24/11/2015 18:27

when I listen to him I want to run and hide somewhere and that makes it hard to process what he's saying Blush :o

dancerchancer · 24/11/2015 18:29

Claig I've often been reassured by some of your posts. Seriously, should we be scared....or more to the point....is there any point in going Christmas shopping? Confused

claig · 24/11/2015 18:37

No need to be scared yet because Putin does not want a wider war. He knows that the game is to try and force him and trick him into a war. He held back in Ukraine and I don't think he will go all out for it now either. The real question is how long can this go on if there are ever more provocations against him to trick him into it?

I am an optimist. I think the warmongers will fail. Eventually Germany and Merkel and France's Hollande will say no. There will be terrible consequences if they say no, but in the end reason and humanity will win and countries will work together to solve the world's problems. Donald Trump will save the day and get along with everyone apart from Isis.

What is really driving this is teh precarious world financial situation and the coming loss of power of the current elites. Somehow everyone will have to get together and solve the economic problems and the elite will have to accept a common solution that works for the entire world.

dancerchancer · 24/11/2015 18:41

Surely the elite must realise that if ever there was a nuclear war they wouldn't have an habitable world to inherit, that must be a factor?

claig · 24/11/2015 18:45

'Surely the elite must realise that if ever there was a nuclear war they wouldn't have an habitable world to inherit, that must be a factor?'

I don't think so. There are underground bases and they will just move to the other side of the world and build palaces there. The reason this is all heating up is because they are desperate as time runs out and the economy does not rescue them and save their power and because they think they can come out winners.

dancerchancer · 24/11/2015 18:48

Damn, i have always been reassured by the thought that mutual assured destruction would prevail.

RainbowBodyDouble · 24/11/2015 18:50

Hypothetical like.

If Turkey are buying ISIL oil, and this could be proven, apart from a bollocking what can NATO do?
