of former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's advisers is in full-blown panic mode over China's Black Monday uk.businessinsider.com/gordon-brown-adviser-damian-mcbride-full-blown-panic-mode-over-chinas-black-monday-2015-8

We have seen seeing the markets crashing everywhere. Governments from china to the US and EU are trying their best to simulate the economy and delay the inevitable. It is now official, there will be an stock market collapse, meaning the banks will be shut and with that everything coming to halt. No one will be at work, no imports will come in, food and medication selves will be empty, civil unrest, hungry and confused people etc... will follow. We have seen it happen to other countries like Greece, but this time no will be here to save our butts.

We dont know what simulation package (if any) will follow, but in the mean time it will be a good idea to have bear essentials like food/ water/ medication/ warm clothing and coal to hand. Im looking at it as buying insurance.

Just wondering how much food and other essentials you have got in your house. And would you be buying more stuff to protect your family, from a economic collapse.

Most people dont keep up to date on this stuff, if you have please share some info to help others understand what is happening.

Thanks

Sophie

Geralde Celentes? Are you fucking kidding me? You do know he's about as economically credible as Philip Schofield?

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 01:59

This, not thus.
Bedtime for me, before the baby is up.
See you all in the morning...I hope
(Jeff best not throw another tantrum)

No offence intended to Phil. Or, indeed, Gordon the Gopher.

CosmicDespot · 01/09/2015 02:03

Thanks Owl, that's what I thought. Bit like JWs.

CosmicDespot · 01/09/2015 02:04

Isn't Nostradamus chiefly famous for always being wrong?

sleeponeday · 01/09/2015 02:04

Night night, NinjaOwl. Hope the baby gives you a better night than mine has thus far!

Out2pasture · 01/09/2015 02:04

gold! buy gold! gold is the only TRUE currency.

MrsWembley · 01/09/2015 02:05

I would offer my biscuits around, but apparently sharing a valuable commodity like food is not a very good survival technique...

emotionsecho · 01/09/2015 02:05

So debunked your panic story over the G20/banking deposits. For someone claiming knowledge of the workings of the banking system I'm surprised you weren't aware of the rules on bank deposits, they've been there for donkey's years.

What's everyone else going to do for carbs? Rice/pasta need boiling - that's more water gone, although it could be re-used to "flush" the toilet. Bread will go off... We might be able to scavenge some wood & have a campfire to bake some potatoes but that's dependent on being allowed outside & how long our potatoes last. I'm struggling to think of carbs that don't require water or cooking... Crackers, I guess... But even they require water because you have to drink so much after you eat them!

Is there a way to make rain water safe to drink? I live in a city so it might be a bit polluted... Hopefully towards the end of the month-long crisis the pollution will have dissipated a bit what with no-one being able to drive their cars after the zombies drink all the petrol... There's a way of cleaning urine to make it drinkable, isn't there?

AlwaysOutnumberdNeverOutgunned · 01/09/2015 02:10

Just leave the cloth over Jeff's cage so he stays quiet tonight would you?

I totally get where the OP is coming from, the nespresso broke last week and I had no back up supply, I WASN'T PREPARED and everything coming to a halt. No one will be is at work, no imports will come in, food and medication selves will be empty, civil unrest, hungry and confused people etc... will did follow and still the Nespresso is broken.

This is the start of WWZ!

"I mean, take water. You would need, say 3 litres of water per person per day. A family of five would need 15 litres a day. Stock up for three weeks, that's 315 litres of water."

You could always get dehydrated water - it's much easier to store.

andersonsophie89 · 01/09/2015 02:14

FattyNinjaOwl - By the time it hits mainstream TV it is too late. Mainstream news does have it in their papers, but because your dont know what is going on, you dont take notice. If you wartch bloomberg/ Max Kieser on RT News, Channel 135, you will be told. I dont mean to be rude but that is the truth.

Previously Ive stated that the Miliband brothers knew of the impending 2008 subprime housing crash and kept their mouth shut. Also Cameron last year has stated there is a second crash coming. They wont make a big deal out of it and scare everyone and risk the country coming to a grinding holt. Why do you think this government would be any different? If you was running the country, would you announce the problem?

Im not here to try to convince you or anyone else to do act. To me, it makes no difference. I dont know you or anyone else and didn't aim to convince you or anyone in particular. I knew there will be load mouths on here, as most people pretty much sheeps and won't do anything unless the masses do. And for that type of person, I or anyone can say anything to them to get them moving. I just hope there is at least one who will try to debunk why a guy in this position will risk loosing his reputation by saying something like this.

You can get very excellent and small filters for water. DH has one that should last all four of us despots for a whole apocalypse. He got it for camping in a man-of-the-hills kind of way and seems very proud of it.

Attention?

What filter is it Cosmic? Could you possibly ask your DH as a matter of urgency? I might need to go loot one from a shop tonight.

SiobhanSharpe · 01/09/2015 02:23

Semi-literate gobbledegook. Yawn. Night all.

CosmicDespot · 01/09/2015 02:28

Hmmm, no he's asleep atm. If you are currently experiencing an apocalyptic situation, I'd advise you to start your looting at your nearest outdoor pursuits shop.

Tinned potatoes! They're weirdy, but carbs.

sleeponeday · 01/09/2015 02:30

We have a Bobble, Cosmic. Might that work?

AGnu · 01/09/2015 02:32

Check this out - portable washing machine. Wouldn't want to get stinky!

sleeponeday · 01/09/2015 02:33

But where will you store the extra water for that? I mean, that fancy dehydrated kind is probably awfully expensive.

CosmicDespot · 01/09/2015 02:40

sleep it might, I don't know how they are with filtering wee into water though. Did you get a leaflet with it?

Is there no escape from laundry?!

AlwaysOutnumberdNeverOutgunned · 01/09/2015 02:43

Zombies tend to look quite unwashed so maybe an outbreak would result in less laundry all round (hopeful). But seriously WHAT ABOUT THE COFFEE it is the actual real and only currency that matters ...

CosmicDespot · 01/09/2015 02:51

I use one of those espresso machines you put on the hob, they usually work fine on a camping stove. Will the zombies nick my calor gas?

sleeponeday · 01/09/2015 02:51

Actually I remember reading a story about a family adrift at sea for weeks, and they survived because mum was a nurse, and they created a sort of colonic thing because you can absorb water from your bottom, and it naturally filters out nasties. So maybe a bobble isn't all that stands between us and dysentery? The story made me heave, but it is apparently so.
