of former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's advisers is in full-blown panic mode over China's Black Monday uk.businessinsider.com/gordon-brown-adviser-damian-mcbride-full-blown-panic-mode-over-chinas-black-monday-2015-8

We have seen seeing the markets crashing everywhere. Governments from china to the US and EU are trying their best to simulate the economy and delay the inevitable. It is now official, there will be an stock market collapse, meaning the banks will be shut and with that everything coming to halt. No one will be at work, no imports will come in, food and medication selves will be empty, civil unrest, hungry and confused people etc... will follow. We have seen it happen to other countries like Greece, but this time no will be here to save our butts.

We dont know what simulation package (if any) will follow, but in the mean time it will be a good idea to have bear essentials like food/ water/ medication/ warm clothing and coal to hand. Im looking at it as buying insurance.

Just wondering how much food and other essentials you have got in your house. And would you be buying more stuff to protect your family, from a economic collapse.

Most people dont keep up to date on this stuff, if you have please share some info to help others understand what is happening.

Thanks

Sophie

Talking of scaremongering, has anyone noticed that there is a correlation between preppers and anti - vaxxers? I guess the tinfoil hat is strong with them. I was watching one of those pepper programmes, and 2 of the families also popped up on a vaccine programme also. Then I did some light Googling to back up my theory, and proved myself 100% correct.

futforbaby · 01/09/2015 20:18

Op is clearly believes there is a threat and done her research. She has named a few economist, politician and financial magazine who all saying the same thing. If she is basing her belief on person advice, I can understand why one would be calling her alarmist. Although, I have looked at all of her sources and are saying exactly the same thing. On that basis alone, shouldn't we take note and listen?

TalkinPeace · 01/09/2015 20:21

Will the market crash
The Chinese stock market is actually a bubbly casino of randomness. It has no connection to the underlying economy.
In fact weakness in the Chinese economy at the moment is a precursor to their economy becoming more consumerist which will be _good for the west in the long run.

Should I be worried and stock up
I remember the three day week in the 70s
I remember the nuclear crises of the early 80's
stocking up was not sensible then and it isn't now

As I will never tire of saying,

When the whole of Manhattan in New York below 39th street - home to over 1 million people - was without power for a week with no warning at all
crime FELL
people shared and looked out for each other
hoodie men used their burgling head torches to help old ladies across the road
people who had gas stoves took food to those without
THERE WAS NO CHAOS

Iceland is not sinister. Grin They do chicken goujon lollipops. Grin

PigletJohn · 01/09/2015 20:38

Fut

What makes you think the OP has done her research when she starts her thread with an untrue claim, and will not accept that it is false?

futforbaby · 01/09/2015 20:48

John because all her sources say the smae thing

ArcheryAnnie · 01/09/2015 20:50

Even her title is complete nonsense, though, fut.

Snowfilledsky · 01/09/2015 20:51

I was a bit Hmm at the 'WHOA!'.

TalkinPeace · 01/09/2015 20:51

fut
But her sources are bilge - Damian McBride is a muppet of the first order

because all her sources say the smae thing
I could find four sources who say Kanye should be the next president of the USA, does that make it true?
edition.cnn.com/2015/08/31/politics/kanye-west-2020-running-for-president-vma/

emotionsecho · 01/09/2015 20:54

and a number of posters have debunked what those people are saying fut, using the rule that "all her sources say the same thing" is a little silly, the OP is hardly likely to provide sources that contradict her belief.

Just because a number of people are saying the same thing doesn't make it true or even likely.

AlwaysOutnumberdNeverOutgunned · 01/09/2015 21:02

Piglet, as a MN rule no post that starts WHOA! should ever expect to be taken seriously surely?

Plus anyone who pays any attention to the finance world follows markets in real time so a warning over a week old is ancient history.

Zombies are far more interesting.

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 21:21

Sorry, went for a nap. Having to train ninjas is knackering. The youngest is finally starting to keep up. It's about time, he's already 4 weeks old. Grin

FairNotFit · 01/09/2015 21:25

The Shanghai Composite Index more than doubled in the 12 months leading up to its mid-June peak. It was ripe for correction.

AlwaysOutnumberdNeverOutgunned · 01/09/2015 21:28

Always a glut of doomsayers who don't believe in self correcting markets though isn't there?

futforbaby · 01/09/2015 21:28

I'm sure someone pointed out the title was just to get peoples attention.

But all her sources are public figures in power, with readerships and who have a reputation to uphold. She asked a very valid question, why would they risk saying something as outlandish as his, if they didn't believe in it themselves? Why would they put their reputation at stake?

PigletJohn · 01/09/2015 21:29

Fut

Seen you have British Official Warning Public?

Government by issued?

Television on broadcast news? In printed newspapers reputable? Street in posters?

Haven't I.

TalkinPeace · 01/09/2015 21:31

futfor

Have you read the thread
the sources are nothing of the sort

Why would they put their reputation at stake?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Icke
read and understand

FairNotFit · 01/09/2015 21:31

David Irving is a public figure with a readership and a (questionable) reputation to uphold.

FattyNinjaOwl · 01/09/2015 21:33

I've just read that in the voice of Yoda pigletjohn Grin

futforbaby · 01/09/2015 21:34

Fairforfit, I've looked up Gerald celente + predicting Chinese stock market crash, as op has suggested and he has predicted the Chinese crash. He also correctly predicted the 1997 subprime mortgage crash. Commodities prices will fall. There are videos of him on Fox news and other American tv shows. Surely this guy is a little bit more creditable than most. So if his been right about the other crashes, could be be right about this one?

mrstweefromtweesville · 01/09/2015 21:35

nothing. no preparations at all. I had all that stuff in my twenties. not now.

futforbaby · 01/09/2015 21:36

Talkinpeace where on earth did you get David icke from? I didn't see it in op's list

SolidGoldBrass · 01/09/2015 21:39

I'll excuse Mimi, who has clearly lived through something horrible - though I would say that many bad things (floods, earthquakes, pandemics) tend to be localised and what actually happens is the rest of the world steps in with food supplies/evacuations/medical assistenace (admittedly often too little too late, and charity much more than governments) - and people look out for one another.

However, 'preppers' are generally not just fucking stupid, citing dubious sources and airing theories that make no sense (anti-vaxxers and 'chemtrail' panickers), but usually you don't need to push them to hard for them to reveal themselves as racists and anti-semites.

PigletJohn · 01/09/2015 21:39

Fut

I also predicted the Chinese Stock Casino Market crash which may now be beginning, and the Great Chinese Banking Crash, which has not yet happened, and the 2015 Russian Currency collapse, which has already happened. So did Nostradamus.

Why do you, like the o.p., evade admitting that the thread title is a lie?

TalkinPeace · 01/09/2015 21:42

fut
My point was that David Icke was a respected newscaster and sportsman who had everything to lose on his reputation
and threw it all away

FWIW only idiots did not predict the Chinese stock market bubble deflating : my broker got my stuff out of there several months ago
