Budget 2015 - what do you think?

Today at 12.30pm - and with only 50 days until the general election - chancellor George Osborne will deliver the last budget of this government. Amongst other things, he’s expected to announce an increase in the personal tax allowance, a reduction in the rate at which savings are taxed and, possibly, a move on inheritance tax. We'd love to know what you'd like to see emerge from his briefcase - and to hear what you think as he announces his measures.

Very good although nothing in it had not been leaked so no surprises there.

This abolition of class 2 NI is interesting. Im self employed. How will my pension be protected? I must be missing something.

Armchair - be grateful you don't need a foodbank and have to deal with someone who thinks you use them for fun! Hmm

I have to say, I was quite impressed actually! I'm sure that won't be the reality after the election though.

All Miliband can do is resort to jeering and sneering. He's shitting himself after that delivery from George. As he should be.

Milliband is doing himself no favours. Can't really attack much in the budget so let's tell the house that people have said mean things.

I'd never had Miliband pegged as a nasty piece of work, actually, A useless, weak hypocrite - yes but this speech of his is playing straight into Tory hands. George was not unkind. Witty and sharp but not sneering or nasty like this twat.

www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/413975/making-tax-easier.pdf seems to say the self employed will have the "option" (not obliged) to pay their tax much sooner.

Regardless of the budget I really dislike Ed Milliband he comes across as a smarmy git

A brilliant idea.

How can anyone consider voting for milliband after this performance? The saying about glass houses throwing stones springs to mind.

I usually look forward to the mn budget thread as being a source of intelligent discussion about the figures and impact on people. This is sorely lacking this year and instead seems to be have taken over by inane comments of no substance or interest.

I thought it was a good budget, the continual increase in personal allowance has been good. Raising it for the higher rate as well is good as many ordinary people are getting close to 40% tax rate.

Also love the scrapping of tax on savings, for most people its not going to be 1k a year in interest but those pennies in tax has always bugged me. Tax me for earning and then tax me for saving (which is supposed to be a repsonsible thing).

I don't know about it but making ISAs more flexible is good as well, so you can take moeny in and out.

DP who has no interest in politics and could probably only name 5 current politicians at a push has just walked in looked at the tv and said "does that twat have any idea what he's talking about he sounds about 12 and like he's having an argument with the smart boys at school" then wondered off! I knew I loved him for a reason Grin
