From the telegraph..

By Agencies4:28PM BST 04 Sep 2014
A woman has been beheaded in a back garden.
The victim was found at an address in Nightingale Road, Edmonton, north London, just after 1pm today.
Scotland Yard gave few details but said that a man has been arrested.
The force said: "Police were called to an address in Nightingale Road at 13.07pm today to reports of a stabbing incident.
"On arrival officers discovered a female collapsed in a garden area.
"A man has been detained and remains in custody.
"At this very early stage we are not in a position to give further details."
There is no suggestion that the killing had any terrorist motive.
Scotland Yard said a firearms officer had suffered a broken wrist in the course of arresting the 25-year-old man who is being held on suspicion of murder.
Detective Chief Inspector John Sandlin, leading this investigation, said: "This was a highly visible attack in broad daylight on a residential street. I can understand why this may cause people concern, however we are confident that we are not looking for anyone else at this stage.
"Whilst it is too early to speculate on what the motive behind this attack was I am confident, based on the information currently available to me, that it is not terrorist related.
"Local officers and specialist detectives are at the scene and will remain there for many hours to come.
"Specially trained family liaison officers will be deployed to support the family; we request that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."

Scary.

That's what I thought. Murdered in our beds we'll be.

Zucker · 04/09/2014 18:14

Seems to be a random attack now. He attacked an animal on the street, some more people fled in a car to escape him.

OwnerOfAnInsanePuppy · 04/09/2014 18:20

I wasn't in a rush. I never connected it to terrorism. It specifically says in the article it is NOT terrorism. If I was linking it to lee rigby or Isis I would have said so. Other posters have linked it to that, not me.

I explained why I posted it in my second post. It is close to home. I am not getting any more specific than that as I don't feel the need to reveal where I live on mn.

It is scary people do this. I am scared people are copy catting the be headings to satisfy their need for their acts to make the news. That to me, speaks of a very disturbed person.

It is horribly sad for the family and friends of this poor woman. My thoughts go out to them.

And fwiw, I am a 'forriner'.

Don't justify your thread OP, you posted 'in the news' and it's shocking news!

It's really horrible. Everyone is so shocked by the well publicised beheadings, it's bringing it horribly close to home.

Gunznroses · 04/09/2014 18:29

How shocking! I know a family living on that road.

yes of course, how nasty to poor op.

we hear of people being killed in numerous ways but until the delightful ISIS beheading was relativley un heard off, since marie antoinette and the like.

of course people think its a random terrorist attack

BeyondRepair · 04/09/2014 19:07

owner

please ignore the ignoramuses on here, they call the rude forriner and brown people so many times it is actually them who sounds rude and offensive.

McBear · 04/09/2014 19:14

Wow. People can really pick a fight over anything on here.

There's no reason this shouldn't be discussed or shared on here. As pp says it's shocking news!

It's scary because beheading is a scary thing!

I hope we find out more.

Nancy66 · 04/09/2014 19:21

It's a big news story, people are entitled to discuss it.

It is a horrible story.

I'll be interested to know about the perpetrator and his background. I DO think it's relevant.

OwlCapone · 04/09/2014 19:22

I can't believe some of the snarky posts towards the OP.

It seems, some posters don't want us to discuss certain issues. What issues they are exactly, I don't know.

We should also not call a beheading scary. I don't know what word the p thinks is appropriate however, I think scary sums it up.

Very strange reaction from some.

BeyondRepair · 04/09/2014 19:42

We should also not call a beheading scary

Indeed, arnt we silly little women.

At least the majority of common sense has come to thread now.

GlacindaTheTroll · 04/09/2014 19:46

I should like to take repeat my apologies for not writing clearly enough in my first post on this thread where I criticised the media's reporting ahead of informing the NOK.

RIP, Palmira Silva (age 82)

Bowlersarm · 04/09/2014 19:46

Of course it's scary.

Because firstly, if it was a terrorist action (seems not to be) how would anyone feel safe going about their daily life and secondly, it is worse than being shot or stabbed because there is absolutely no chance of surviving your head being cut off.

BeyondRepair · 04/09/2014 20:09

because there is absolutely no chance of surviving your head being cut off v true

HeySoulSister · 04/09/2014 20:40

Poor lady... 82! Not so sure it would be DV then.

I'm off to read the news as not caught up today, I heard there had been another woman murdered too. Not in a hurry to catch up on the news, it's utterly grim.

chockbic · 04/09/2014 20:41

Saw this on DM who reported the price of houses in the area.

MrsDavidBowie · 04/09/2014 20:43

beyond repairSmile

MarthasVineyard · 04/09/2014 20:43

What about the poor cats who were also killed?

chockbic · 04/09/2014 20:45

Isn't there a mental health facility in that area?

spiderlight · 04/09/2014 20:47

82?! Oh blimey - that's awful.

"Isn't there a mental health facility in that area?"

I think there is, but it's so easy to travel round London, that could be totally unrelated. Though there are reports which make the whole set of events sound sound terrifying. I'm hoping the official account (when it emerges) will be less scary than some of what is currently doing the rounds.
