here is Part 5 but we are ready (nearly) for a new one.

OP posts:
YNK · 07/05/2014 15:04

Mt mum died in a hospice wearing a nightshirt expressly given to the nursing staff for this solemn moment.
It had on it the slogan
"Remember You're a Womble"!

LookingThroughTheFog · 07/05/2014 15:09

Yes, my thoughts of that part of her testimony is that she was clear not to be drawn to 'She screamed after the shot'. Instead she say 'I heard her voice/scream after the shot.' She seems to be pushing the point that she can't say when the woman screamed, but only when it reached her ears.

She concedes it might have been the echo.

Roux pushes about whether it was a new, independent scream, and she won't agree - she says at one point that it's possible, but then instantly returns to it only being a short time after that she can still hear the woman's voice.

I have to say, having not seen Roux cross-examine until this past few days, I think that Nel is far nicer to the lay-witnesses he's cross-examining. Burger stands up to him amazingly well.

But like I say, I'm not finished with her testimony yet.

AmIthatSpringy · 07/05/2014 15:12

Bonnie. Someone outwith Mn suggested to me that Kim Myers was laughing and sniggering in court and that might have prompted OP'a remark to her

I agree with you that it is not funny

BonnieL · 07/05/2014 15:18

An echo has got to be too far fetched surely. My point is that one of the forensics people said it was impossible after the fatal shot for Reeva to have screamed. In fact I thought even before that they felt it couldn't have happened (ie post the second shot).

I think it's lovely that your parents were still smiling and able to laugh right to the end, and I can well imagine what a comfort that must have been. But a murder trial is so horrific for all concerned that to laugh and joke in that scenario just doesn't sit well with me.

BonnieL · 07/05/2014 15:22

Blimey springy then I think I would find it hard not to say something in that case. And I guess he has to deny it. Mind you that's all alleged as well isn't it. On a side note - was the autograph ever found to be true, does anyone know?

So much rubbish is spouted around various sites and in papers it is hard to know what to believe, e.g. the new girlfriend story was reported in at least one national newspaper as though it was true and it turned out to be completely made up.

AmIthatSpringy · 07/05/2014 15:35

Sadly Bonnie some people are selective in what they choose to believe. My comments were based on speculation raised in a convo and I have no proof she was giggling.

It is interesting that the Standers are being dismissed be use they were friends and would be predisposed to favouring the defence case

Yet I can't recall Samantha Taylor being dismissed in such a way despite her obvious upset at being dumped

But luckily most Mners are not like this and see things for what they are

YNK · 07/05/2014 15:39

It would be hypocritical for us to pretend we are remotely feeling anything like the pain of Reeva's family too.

YNK · 07/05/2014 15:46

Springy, the Staners evidence is not being dismissed by me!
It is a legal point!
I resent your inference about me!
It is a cheap shot and in this context disrespectful of the debate at hand!

Samantha Taylor's evidence may well be subject to the same legal point but it is moot, given that both her and Darren Fresco could not come up with the correct date, which is why I have said I believe he will be found not guilty of this offence.

YNK · 07/05/2014 15:47

Did you even watch the link I provided, Springy?

AmIthatSpringy · 07/05/2014 15:50

Bonnie. Yes I think the autograph was true , although it wasn't actually a signature

I believe someone shoved something at him - not sure if it was a book or a bit of paper - and he signs it "thank you for your love and kindness"

Alex Crawford has a photo on her twitter TL

LookingThroughTheFog · 07/05/2014 15:51

My point is that one of the forensics people said it was impossible after the fatal shot for Reeva to have screamed.

Yes. I find it easier to suggest that the tailing scream that she described started before the last gunshot. I don't find it easy to believe that she didn't hear a scream at all. I totally accept that she doesn't have pinpoint accuracy of which sound she heard last, the tailing scream or the gunshot. She says she would put the tailing scream second, but only by 'moments' and not by half a minute.

I don't discount from that, her hearing screams during the gunshots. I think she heard the her screaming. She described the screaming to colleagues and a friend prior to knowing anything about Oscar from the news - she asked a friend who used the Silverwood's nursery to find out what happened to the screaming woman.

But, the standard disclaimer - I'm only just now working through her testimony, and I haven't started any of the other witnesses. I don't know whether my mind will be changed when I've heard the other witnesses.

It wasn't changed by the two witnesses who heard nothing until Oscar cried, and no bangs at all.

AmIthatSpringy · 07/05/2014 15:57

Looking. Thank you for your dedication to the thread.

It is clearly a lot of work for you, but is a useful reference pointSmile

Nerf · 07/05/2014 15:58

Wonder if someone wrote the love and kindness bit and he signed what he thought was blank? Also what else can he do? Ignore the fans? Autograph? Or best of bad options and thank them for supporting him?

JillJ72 · 07/05/2014 16:03

Nerf another case of - if he doesn't he's slated, if he does he's slated.

Simplest solution is for him to not be ambushed on his way into court.

I feel like adding "FFS" to that sentence.

AmIthatSpringy · 07/05/2014 16:05

Nerf. I'm pretty sure or was his writing. It just seemed a little bit different from signing an autograph IYSWIM

I suppose it depends on your view of him as to whether you think it crass or not

Of course if he ignores everyone he would be criticised for that too.

LookingThroughTheFog · 07/05/2014 16:06

I had a thought about the example cries yesterday - did Roux ask all of the neighbours to do a demonstration, or just the female two?

Hillwalker · 07/05/2014 16:11

Just the women. I honestly can't understand what the point was. They had already said it was a man they heard and Reeva was dead at this point. Most odd.

YNK · 07/05/2014 16:13

In response to the allegation that OP intimidated Kim in court - it was heard by a police officer and several journalists saw him speak to her.
(incidentally this is technically a breach of his bail conditions).

Oscars defense is telling.....he didn't do it, he said nothing!
You have to hand it to him for sticking to a tried and tested method!

Hillwalker · 07/05/2014 16:14

If OP is found guilty of murder, does he remain free between verdict and sentencing?

AmIthatSpringy · 07/05/2014 16:18

Hillwalker. Interesting question. I read somewhere - god knows where - that he could apply for further bail but it would be seperate from the current bail conditions.

I'm surprised with the way things are going that he had not skipped the country on Uncle Arnold's private plane.

YNK · 07/05/2014 16:19

I have also heard that the respected ballistics expert for the defense has now pulled out. As yet this is unconfirmed.
OP changing his testimony about the magazine rack may also have made the promised animation unworkable.

Oh dear, I almost feel sorry for OP. His defense is in serious trouble this week!

Hillwalker · 07/05/2014 16:20

Yes, Springy, that thought had occurred to me too!

LouiseBrooks · 07/05/2014 16:23

Someone outwith Mn suggested to me that Kim Myers was laughing and sniggering in court and that might have prompted OP'a remark to her

Springy someone said to me too about several people laughing and I did notice that a dark haired lady on the Steenkamp bench seemed to be smiling every time I saw her. I guess it could be described as smirking but I'm going to be kind and assume (I have no idea who she is) that it was a nervous smile.

Equally someone said OP had been smirking some time ago. Sometimes of course people laugh at inappropriate times - funerals for example.

LouiseBrooks · 07/05/2014 16:24

I have also heard that the respected ballistics expert for the defense has now pulled out. As yet this is unconfirmed

YNK so you mean it's another rumour?

Nerf · 07/05/2014 16:25

She's not a witness though, so it doesn't actually matter. If he thought it, so what.
Not surprised there are witnesses confirming what he said ( although that's third hand) - people love to be involved in a bit of drama.
