Animation well I'm sorry but I thiink people's assumption that he is automatically a bit guilty is a bit much too.

No he didn't live on a farm miles from anywhere but if you are already paranoid about security/crime then stories like that add to it. Anyone has hasn't been affecred by crime doesn't know how they would act or react. He seems to have been brought up to be fearful of intruders - and I'm not blaming his mother by the way. I have no idea where they lived or how dangerous it was.

And no I'm from Wales actually. Smile

HowAboutNo · 10/04/2014 12:37

*offence

LouiseBrooks · 10/04/2014 12:38

Whoops I meant "automatically guilty" not " a bit guilty"! Isn't that like "a bit pregnant"?

SauceForTheGander · 10/04/2014 12:38

Oscar has so far blamed his team of lawyers, the police, other witnesses - constantly painting himself as an innocent bystander in all these events involving guns. Other witnesses are lying or wrong - his legal team were remiss in not checking if his finger was on the trigger in the restaurant and the police have tampered evidence but he can't remember how exactly.

Always crying "it wasn't my fault" only gets you so far - he's the common denominator in these incidents and all shoe him to be reckless, careless and hot headed,

Bonnielangbird · 10/04/2014 12:39

"Louise - your rationalisations - putting ALL his behaviours and incidents in a benign light are getting a bit much now!!

I'm starting to wonder if you're from MNHQ :) "

animation it's unfair to keep posting sarcastic comments about people defending OP, just as it would be unfair for those if us who do believe he is telling the truth to keep commenting on those who think he is lying. This thread isn't just for those who think exactly like you do.

JillJ72 · 10/04/2014 12:41

.... Please ladies (and gentlemen)... There are so many gunfights on MN, please let's not turn this thread into another one of those

Thanks and Cake for all x

Hmm
LouiseBrooks · 10/04/2014 12:42

"the gum chewing is disturbing to me. Reminds me of an ex who shouted at me for talking loudly or making the slightest noise when eating actually. OP reminds me a lot of him for some reason and I can't put my finger on it. ."

Just as I can see his story could be true having suffered burglaries and assault, and therefore being paranoid myself, I can see that people who have had controlling men in their lives see OP as being the same and identify with Reeva, or what they perceive the relationship to be. None of us can help doing that.

Of course I agree that he sounds a bit controlling (but then so am I apparently which is obviously why I find the gum thing no big deal) and a definite immature arse. None of that means he is a murderer and some people don't seem able to separate the two.

Marcipex · 10/04/2014 12:43

Sorry Jill but Grin

OneStepCloser · 10/04/2014 12:45

Yes, sorry Jill but I Grin and Shock at that as well, Blush

Fleta · 10/04/2014 12:45

JillJ72 - that is Freudian to say the least. What a fab typo Grin

The thing is we are all coming at this from exactly the same angle - we all see the same bits of the trial, we all infer from that what we feel.

So some of us think he did it deliberately, some of us think it was a tragic accident. That has no bearing on our morals or our reasonableness as people. That is us being human.

OneStepCloser · 10/04/2014 12:47

Well said Fleta.

colincaterpillar · 10/04/2014 12:51

Yes louise I have refrained from posting on here because I have been trying to keep the two separate as I know we can never really know. I am so on the fence because I am open to his side of the story. If only we knew Reeva's too.

AnyaKnowIt · 10/04/2014 12:53

It's the blame everyone else for his actions.

It's now reevas fault for not speaking or letting him know she was in the toilet.

radikel · 10/04/2014 12:56

I wish that South Africans could have such civil debates. Discussions either end in name calling or racial slurs.

Animation · 10/04/2014 12:56

Louise - very few people are saying he's a murderer - people are just commenting as the evidence comes through. But I am noticing that you jump in with EVERY incidence and every behaviour to rationalise it in a benign light - in a way that makes it look him look innocent.

Do you see this as your role? Thats why I wondered if you were from MNHQ??

Grennie · 10/04/2014 13:00

I don't believe that Reeva would have said nothing if she really had just gone to the toilet, and next thing hears her partner shouting and screaming.

SirChenjin · 10/04/2014 13:02

Can anyone clarify this for me - Reeva went to the toilet and opened the window while in there, if I've understood things correctly. Do we know why she did that, has that been explained? I can understand opening a window if you've just poo'ed (sorry, that sounds so disrespectful Sad) and you're in the early stages of a relationship where you might be embarrassed, but that doesn't seem to have been the case - they've been talking about an empty bladder?

I suppose I'm trying to understand why you would open a window if you're just going for a wee? Apologies if that's already been explained.

Roussette · 10/04/2014 13:05

Those that are convinced he is innocent will find any reason to slant anything that comes through to OP's advantage, as much as those who have an uneasy feeling he might be guilty will look at it from the opposite angle.

I am trying really hard to be on the fence and look at it as an innocent but awful crime but I am struggling with that, for various reasons.

(if a boyfriend told me to stop chewing gum, I'd tell him to bog off. No one's perfect and maybe I like chewing gum! It just seems as if he tried to undermine or control Reeva from the texts I've read)

Animation · 10/04/2014 13:06

"animation it's unfair to keep posting sarcastic comments about people defending OP, just as it would be unfair for those if us who do believe he is telling the truth to keep commenting on those who think he is lying. This thread isn't just for those who think exactly like you do."

Well it does make for irriating reading that you keep posting how you are SO sure he's innocent. Balanced posts are much easier to read whilst the evidence is coming through.

OneStepCloser · 10/04/2014 13:07

That's a very good point SirChenjin, I never thought of that, why would she of opened a window in the toilet, as they were so scared of intruders you wouldn't open the window in the middle of the night unless to let a smell out, or you thought you would be in there for some time.

Aventurine · 10/04/2014 13:08

I thinking letting air into a loo is normal regardless. Maybe it was stuffy and hot in there?

AnyaKnowIt · 10/04/2014 13:09

I though the window was broken that why it was open.

Roussette · 10/04/2014 13:11

It is so flippin' irritating to have every single sentence ending in "M'lady". Surely he doesn't have to do that.
