Daren't do a link to her article in today's Guardian G2, but it's a damn sight more critical of u-know-who than anyone has ever been on here!

it's fab isn't it? I want so much to comment on it

Wordsmith · 10/08/2006 09:27

Go on then Trotsky!

OP posts:
northender · 10/08/2006 09:31

There's already a link in one of the other threads

MrsJohnCusack · 10/08/2006 09:31

goodness

pleaase comment trotsky.

Wordsmith · 10/08/2006 09:31

Thought there probably would be, northender, but couldn't find one on cursory glance.

I love the last paragraph

morningpaper · 10/08/2006 09:32

It's very sad though isn't it, the final paragraph?

Makes me want to slap everyone around the face and say YOU SEE? DOESN'T IT ALL MAKE SENSE NOW?

Wordsmith · 10/08/2006 09:33

OK here it is . yes the last para speaks volumes doesn't it.

OP posts:
Tommy · 10/08/2006 09:34

agree with morningpaper (again)
That last paragraph

northender · 10/08/2006 09:34

It's on the media interest thread, a post from jessicaandrebeccasmummy I think. (Haven't the energy to find it and do a link, long story involving sleepless toddler!)

northender · 10/08/2006 09:35

I'm surprised she wrote that bit about her mother, speaks volumes doesn't and explains a lot!

TrotskyPlayedTheHarpsichord · 10/08/2006 09:36

the whole thing makes me bloody weep.
the whole miserable thing.

morningpaper · 10/08/2006 09:45

The odd thing about this article was that the headline was really inappropriate though

Didn't really go with the story

Wordsmith · 10/08/2006 09:46

MP!

OP posts:
CarolinaMao · 10/08/2006 09:47

um, it is relevant to one quote in the article. What on earth could that have been about I wonder?...

Freckle · 10/08/2006 09:57

I don't think I'd be too worried if I were Catherine Bennett. After all The Guardian has very deep pockets and extremely savvy lawyers so I don't think they are likely to be targetted at all. It's so much easier to threaten shoestring operations.

mummydear · 10/08/2006 10:05

Lets all live in harmony eh girls ? ( para 1)

CaligulaCorday · 10/08/2006 10:29

pmsl hurray for Catherine Bennett!

aitch71ababe · 10/08/2006 10:35

well done Catherine Bennett, a very funny piece and rather touching in a way. it made me want to cuddle my daughter excessively and never put her down.

very sad about the last paragraph though, what a shame, am almost feeling sorry for my namesake...

EvesMama · 10/08/2006 10:43

so why is mumsnet being singled out when so many paper/t.v/radio shows, and other websites are saying similar things?..that they disagree with her practice or find it inhumane?..or rather, not what a mum or dad would actually do..unless they were deprogrammed of all feeling...whats the issue with MN above eveyone else?

aitch71ababe · 10/08/2006 10:48

honestly, i think it's personal.

completely hypothetically... i think if you have come up against some of the women here in an argument it might be hard not to take it personally, even if, say, you were posting in disguise and everyone just thought that you were an ordinary mn punter who was up for a ruck.
i think that possibly real feelings got hurt.
but i wasn't here at that time, i read the threads afterwards but things did seem to get pretty weird.

PS is this deletable? i don't think i've said anything out of turn but if i have will someone press the exclamation mark for me? cheers

morningpaper · 10/08/2006 10:56

Ha I see there are a few comments under Catherine Bennett's piece saying that the headline isn't appropriate.

It just doesn't make sense attached to the story.

Not just me then.

joelallie · 10/08/2006 11:10

That is so sad. The last para I mean. So sad.

Very funny posts from readers underneath though. Particularly the one from the neighbour's point of view, I thought.
