........why say he is looking after his sick brother when he is under investigation by the police for child porn possesion/downloading?

It's so disheartening and dispiriting
in court next week

yes, i read this and thought it sad that the parishoners had not been told that he was under investigation as they must have known it would become public knowledge eventually

SherlockLGJ · 09/07/2006 21:03

Innocent until proven guilty perhaps ??

DarrellRivers · 09/07/2006 21:07

i agree and maybe better to be upfront re impending investigation

DarrellRivers · 09/07/2006 21:07

i agree but maybe better to be upfront re impending investigation

Medulla · 09/07/2006 21:08

What if he's innocent?

zippitippitoes · 09/07/2006 21:58

he has been accused of having pornographic images of children on the parish computer..

I think his parishioners could have been told why he was not observing his duties ...rather than being asked to pray for him weekly

he is/was our absent priest

what is it with the church and managing the flock with accusations of the priests?

To what extent to they differ from eg schools?

can you tell me is a catholic priest allowed to get married and have children and carry on being catholic priest? thanks

Medulla · 09/07/2006 22:06

I once worked with a gynaecologist who was accused of some sort of sexual crime. He was completely innocent! However lost all his credibility as a consultant because people judged first. Felt so sorry for him had to give up his job and move!

expatinscotland · 09/07/2006 22:07

no, myson, he is not.

one of my dad's sisters married a former priest.

zippitippitoes · 09/07/2006 22:12

dp's view is that he will leave the church and have faith in his heart

I'm really surprised that they were allowed to cover this up - unless of course, he hadn't been charged. They have to be open about it all when he has been charged.
This happened in our diocese and the after the guy had been charged, the Bishop went to the church and told the parish. We were all told the following Sunday in a no holds barred announcement.
It's all very very

mysonsmummy · 09/07/2006 22:19

so if you want to get married you have to stop being a practising priest.

poisson · 09/07/2006 22:20

i say NOITHING

zippitippitoes · 09/07/2006 22:23

he has been visiting his sick brother and dealing with personal circumstances..for which we have been asked to pray

I find that deceitful as his absence is entirely due to police investigations and tbh you can't get much clearer than images on his parish office pc

i thihk you are right zippi to ( int his case) presume the worst
the exaple i was talking of i htink was probably linked.

poisson · 09/07/2006 22:25

? A photograph of All Saints Parish Church, rather St Peter's Church, mistakenly appeared in the Leamington Observer this week. We regret any embarrassment caused to the priest in charge of All Saints Rev Christopher Wilson, or the church community.

oh dear!!!!

zippitippitoes · 09/07/2006 22:25

he has been investigated for 7 months ...charged last week

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 09/07/2006 22:26

he was previously in Reading/Caversham

OP posts:
Tommy · 09/07/2006 22:26

thing is zippi - if he hadn't been charged, the Bishop did the right thing in taking him away from the parish but it wouldn't be fair (in a legal sense) to announce what he was under suspicion for if he hadn't been charged yet (I think - am I right Cod?)

poisson · 09/07/2006 22:26

hed be part of a crakc down on credit cards
the one here had links to the south westa dn some prietss there.
( so i was told)

poisson · 09/07/2006 22:27

i dunno they can announce hwta they liek i suppose

zippitippitoes · 09/07/2006 22:29

was very weird to have a priest who wasn't there at Christmas, Easter or over the time of the death of a teenager in mysterious circumstance for the family

OP posts:
Tommy · 09/07/2006 22:29

just thought there might have been a innocent until proved otherwise thing going on there.

The Reading connection worries me - that's where the one I knew was.....

Tommy · 09/07/2006 22:29

I would have thought questions would have been asked long before now zippi?
