If we could fix this it might help
Foster care experience
I've always felt being moved around so much, often very suddenly, without any real explanation, can be really damaging to anyone growing up. But I think actually I was one of the lucky ones, especially after meeting Scott, who is roughly the same age as me.

Interesting and a link I didn't expect but what jumped out at me was the 1972 sentence
What fucking judge gave that sentence. No wonder police and social workers weighed up the harm of going through a trial compared with the potential outcome a year !!!!!

For rape and drugging a 12 year old.

By logic if you don't get a proper sentence , if you are believed and win which is not easy , why bother with a trial, why bother arresting them, why bother telling . Why do anything.

The rot is at the top
A fucking year!!!! I just can't get over it. How do I find out who that fucking judge is.

1972 - Jailed for one year after raping a 12-year-old girl he had lured into his car and knocked out with paint stripper. Served served 12 months of an 18-month sentence. Upon release returned to Todmorden
1975 - Lived at Dineley Avenue, Todmorden
1978 - Attempted to rape a 14-year-old. Hewlett held a gun to her head. Sentenced to four years - served 16 months

Sky news are going to town on the Rotherham case of the foster parents. UKIP were on the news getting loads of publicity this morning. Anyone would think Mr Murdoch was happy to show the public there is an alternative to the main parties as a warning shot to the big 3 if they keep pissing with him. Nigel Farage came across really well and completely ruled out any racial elements within his party. I dont know enough about UKIP to comment.
I would say as a freebie party political broadcast it went very wellHmm

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2237660/Husband-wifes-foster-children-ethnic-minorities-taken-away-couple-joined-Ukip.html

Since when does the removal of children from a foster carers home recieve headline status. I'm interested as are some of the public but that powers that be couldnt give a toss on a normal dayConfused

Mrcrumpswife · 24/11/2012 12:24

Rotherham council have now announced an inquiry.

Does anyone fancy becoming a self employed inquire-ist with me. We could make a bloody fortune at the moment and the beauty being we already know how to sign it off with the phrase lessons will be learnedWink

edam · 24/11/2012 13:03

Rotherham, FFS? How they have the gall i do not know, given their appalling failure to protect children from being repeatedly raped and abused by gangs - children whose parents were accused of racism when they dared to try to rescue them. Good grief.

MrsjREwing · 24/11/2012 13:18

I though UKIP was just a minority part like Green. I thought it was NF that were racist Confused

Mrcrumpswife · 24/11/2012 13:43

I think ukip are sometimes put in a more controversial bracket as they want to shut the UK borders which is deemed racist. I could be wrong so heres a link.

swallowedAfly · 24/11/2012 13:50

ukip attract a racist element because they're anti europe i suppose - the majority of our immigration is now europeans who are free to come and go as they please as members of the european union (or whatever it is that means we can all go work anywhere within europe). so anti eastern european immigration fits well with anti europe and the nationalist rhetoric.

swallowedAfly · 24/11/2012 13:52

don't know if turkey is still being considered as a viable potential eu member but that kicked off a lot of concern with images of huge populations of young turkish men coming to england. can't remember when that was but can imagine that would contribute.

swallowedAfly · 24/11/2012 13:55

also remember all the uproar about romany people who were supposedly 'pouring in' and bringing massive problems to the local communities they settled in and massive expense due to children turning up solo and married with kids of their own and all of them needing to be in children's home by our law.

maybe pragmatic racists/facists/etc realise the BNP and NF are never going to get into a position of power but UKIP is more mainstream and in with more of a chance? just speculating.

swallowedAfly · 24/11/2012 13:56

i've made myself chuckle with 'pragmatic racists/facists/etc' - interesting demographic i just created Grin

Xenia · 24/11/2012 14:14

I expect it is in the press because people want to read that kind of thing and the arbitrary nature of some social work decisions is a bit worrying. I am pro immigration. The Hungarians and Bulgarians are about to get rights to come here - they have not had that until I think next year and the UK wants to limit benefits to them but that might be unlawful under EU law so that's a separate but interesting issue.

Cousinit · 24/11/2012 18:38

Xenia, Hungary is a member of the EU and has been since around 2003/4 I think. Its citizens have been entitled to work and settle in the UK since then. I think you might be confusing Hungary with Romania?

MrsjREwing · 24/11/2012 18:45

I think you are right Romanian's are due to have freedom to settle anywhere in Europe.

The head off the department said that they had been criticised for an earlier foster place as it hadnt taken into account the childrens cultural background so when ukip came up they moved them due to expected critism.

He had a girl delivered to him in a sack!

This was printed in his own fucking book! Why the fuck did no-one question it?

And I'm sick to death hearing 'things were different back then' having a person brought to you to abuse in a fucking sack was still fucking wrong!!!

Lockedout434 · 24/11/2012 22:26

How weird I went off to look at the mirror to see the head line about the bbc and the Raymond Hewlett story came up.

I am very curious as to the story
