Anyone interested in knowing that a BBC producer just emailed me trying to steer me off covering the Newsnight paedo story?

Why would someone in the BBC try to persuade me that Steven Meshham's evidence was "unreliable" and that he was a "damaged individual"?"

This morning in the Mail

"two brothers who were at Bryn Estyn at the same time as (Messham) told the Daily Mail that claims of boys being taken away to be abused by outsiders were untrue........."

I don't really see how this changes the need for a thorough investigation, except that perhaps the investigation should also include what's going on now in respect of trying to discredit complainants and potential witnesses.

a child can allege what went on, they can't allege what did not go on unless they were omniprescent and omniscient. let's hope those that believe in 'bandwagonning' also apply that cynicism to those coming forward to discredit those who claim to have been abused.

i don't get that DM story at all. so what if some kids didn't see/experience anything, you still have to investigate the claims of those who did? it's not like there haven't been convictions already.

I assume the DM are just trying to squeeze as much out of the story as they can and it's probably not too hard to find someone prepared to take money to say they didn't see anything.

Initially, just after Tom Watson's question at PMQs when he first linked a paedophile ring to Number 10, people said it was Peter Morrison. This was before other names were mentioned, and before the Newsnight episode about the Welsh abuse scandal, which led to forums/social media focusing on a handful of particular names. We know what names they are.

Anyway, I think Dave's using the "misunderstood gay MPs" line, or he honestly believes that it's only Morrison's name being linked to the case and he doesn't want to go into it further. I honestly think it'll take the media exposing the other names to get a real inquiry/exposure, otherwise he can ignore them as "internet rumours".

In a way the significance of Schofie handing over the list off the internet live on air, which would have seemed like a pretty flaky thing to do only a month ago, is that it is a way of saying 'The nation now trusts the investigators on the internet more than we trust the police and government.'

Phillip Schofield has just shot up in my estimation. Why should anyone be able to go on the internet and see all these high profile names accused of the most disgusting crimes and yet no one appears to be investigating it.

As for Cameron turning it into an 'apparent Gay witch hunt', what a crock of shit. I havent seen anyone confusing Peadophile for Gay. Its just another way to deflect a situation he wants to crawl out of.
