Well I think it's the "no 10 aide" that's significant here. Much speculation on the Guido Fawkes blog.

There has in addition been various stuff with a nautical angle - whether to place any credence on it I just don't know.

This is all so unbelievable - how much more awful stories to come out? Between this, the Saville/BBC and the Hillsborough cover up - I am feeling really uneasy about that whole time period. It seems that so many people at the top of our country's biggest organisations just really didn't give a shit about anyone.

Back in the 80s (possibly early 90s) I recall there being a brief flurry of reports about children's homes in Northern Ireland being used as a source of victims for senior political figures. A retired Chief Constable was supposed to be leading some kind of enquiry but later claimed to have been silenced.

Does anyone else remember this? Or have I confused some elaborate hoax with real life?

Ahh thank you. Have just googled. Seems it wasn't quite as hushed up as I remembered, so may be not as relevent. But it made me very sceptical about the character of people in power and I don't think much has changed.

I still believe most people are decent and kind.

Maybe power attracts a certain type of person. I really hope that tis is investigated properly, but given the names hinted at being involved I doubt that'll be the case.

It's awful. But naming people on a thread like this then saying "I'm not for one moment suggesting......." is how rumours start.
