Imagine embarking upon the traumas of teenhood with all that to cope with.

Poor, poor kid. And poor her, knowing that she was leaving him to face all that on his own.

NomDePlume · 07/03/2006 14:05

Goodness, she was only diagnosed in August 2005 Sad. What a shock. Poor lad, losing both his parents at such a young age

Northerner · 07/03/2006 14:05

OMG. Didn't know she was ill.

Their son is only 14 and an orphan Sad

chicagomum · 07/03/2006 14:08

So sad. Guess it puts your "problems" into perspective somewhat when you read things like this. My heart goes out to that poor boy.

pashmina · 07/03/2006 15:16

This is so sad, there is an article in the latest edition of Marie Claire about lung cancer. Cheryl Barrymore died recently too.

There is also a story about a woman with 3 children in her 30's, who has never smoked, and has Lung cancer. There are some very scary statistics in the article - all smokers and opponents to the long awaited no smoking laws should read them.

Oh god, how sad.

Marina · 07/03/2006 15:21

Oh, poor Will. That really is very sad :(

bundle · 07/03/2006 15:23

I think Deborah Hutton's family are helping to set up a charity directed at deterring teenage girls from taking up smoking (she died of lung cancer 23 years after giving up)

Mum's old best friend is dying of it 40 plus years after giving up.

NomDePlume · 07/03/2006 15:24

Pashmina, I had no idea Cheryl Barrymore had passed away

bundle · 07/03/2006 15:27

Linda Smith was mentioned in church on Sunday. She was born in Erith, a local and rather down on its luck suburb, and apparently once described it as not so much in a town-twinning programme but more of a suicide pact :)
Ivor Cutler :(:( too

SenoraPostrophe · 07/03/2006 15:34

a friend of mine died of lung caner having never smoked - smoking does increase the risk but it is not the only cause, and there is a lot of evidence to suggest there is no link at all between it and passive smoking.

very sad though, and a horrible way to go.

tamum · 07/03/2006 15:37

I wonder what type it was- there's a very aggressive form of lung cancer called small cell lung cancer that is completely unconnested with smoking, and tends to affect younger people. It may well be that. How sad, and about John Junkin and Ivor Cutler.

tamum · 07/03/2006 15:37
