i think the brooks' statements were poor form from both of them, especially the "think of the little people" plea. I doubt very much that her staff (who are all senior and have worked with her for a long time) could have been arm-twisted into anything by her, and if they were, then they would have known exactly what they were doing and what may happen if they did commit a criminal act and were caught.
I hate the "she'll never get a fair trial" line as well. it's tosh and the newspapers who are reporting are being extremely careful not to be prejudicial in their reporting (something Ms Brooks never afforded to anyone she chose to slate prior to any trial taking place).
The fact that she and her husband are getting such a pasting from joe-public has nothing to do with the actual evidence and matters relating to these charges, but much more to do with her immoral conduct whilst in the employ of Murdoch and the immorality of the red tops.
