I agree, read that this morning and felt sick.

I hope it doesn't happen.

RabidAnchovy · 28/04/2012 15:20

Sorry Daily Mail

Attempts to make working link

BonnieBumble · 28/04/2012 15:22

The links haven't worked. Surely not, a minutes applause would be announced by an official at the club, I can't see that happening.

RabidAnchovy · 28/04/2012 15:23

It is a fucked up world so it is

BonnieBumble · 28/04/2012 15:24

Oh I see, it's the fans instigating it. I think they should make an announcement at the beginning of the match that it won't be tolerated.

Empusa · 28/04/2012 15:24

It's sickening isn't it? I'm really hoping there is a backlash by the other football fans at the match (surely the majority can't support this?!)

akaemmafrost · 28/04/2012 15:25

The match should be stopped immediately if that goes ahead Angry.

chantico · 28/04/2012 15:35

Or stop the match, Sheffield to forfeit it, if it happens? (Evening kick off).

The problem is; this is an expression of a belief in his innocence. Personally, I find it misplaced (for he was found guilty) and abhorrent. Clearly others want to state (by clapping) a different view. They also have the right to freedom of expression.

Only DM seems to be giving the internet chatter any credence at present. I would actually be surprised (and very dismayed) if it really happened.

FrillyMilly · 28/04/2012 16:42

If this happens I would be disgusted. Don't these football fans have wives, daughters, sisters? How would they feel if it was them that this happened to. Applause for a convicted rapist is just not acceptable.

Although as we all know if you are famous and 'talented' enough then crimes against women can be easily forgotten.

EdithWeston · 28/04/2012 18:40

Well, if it was going to happen, it would have done by now.

Anyone know if it did?

BonnieBumble · 28/04/2012 20:17

According to Wales online it failed to materialise. It appears it is his sister who is behind the public campaign of support for Ched Evans.

Xales · 28/04/2012 20:49

Absolutely disgusting. Glad it failed.

I don't know if I pity the girlfriend. He clearly admitted to having sex with this girl (how many others too) and she is standing by him. I hope she gets screened regularly.

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 29/04/2012 00:12

Read this earlier, glad it doesn't seem to have gone ahead. It's a fucked up world we live in when the victim of a crime (and a particularly nasty one at that) is vilified while the person who has caused such pain and anguish is lauded as the innocent party.

God knows what his girlfriend is on. Her man was convicted of rape, but even if she doesn't believe he is guilty of that, he is clearly guilty of having sex with people who are not her and generally treating women like pieces of meat. The lack of respect for others and arrogance is staggering. Love is blind I suppose Hmm

If I discovered that my partner had had sex with a woman behind my back who was incredibly drunk after watching his mate(s) have a go first I wouldn't be able to look at him the same way again, ever. And that isn't even taking into account the fact this woman was raped.

oldraver · 01/05/2012 13:15

Its on the same lines as the words I heard on Talk Sport, on the day of his sentencing

...."while the poor guy rots in jail" or similar. I was aghast and just looked at my b/f and say "did he really say that Shock
