www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2124246/There-downsides-looking-pretty-Why-women-hate-beautiful.html

I could not even finish reading the article, what a prat.

But the question is do you like your friends to be not as pretty as you?

I can't say I have ever given it any thought.

I wouldn't say I'm ugly but I don't have the feminine prettiness many women have, so I wouldn't have many friends if I only had those who were uglier than me! I have never felt differently about my friends because of their looks, and a few of them are very good-looking I suppose. They're just...people to me. I hate that article :o

It is badly written, makes no sense and is shallow nonsense which belittes women.

Sorry, I've not read it yet, but I saw that it's from the Mail so I am playing the odds.

OneHandFlapping · 03/04/2012 08:52

I choose my friends for their personalities. I don't care if they're pretty or not.

ledkr · 03/04/2012 08:52

Nobody is prettier than me when im drunk so im not bothered. All my friends are gorgeous too! Stupid idiot.

pantaloons · 03/04/2012 08:54

The problem is it's hard to comment without sounding jealous, but I honestly can't see what makes her think she is stunning. Surely she is fairly normal?

I'm not at all especially pretty, but have managed to never break any mirrors and my friends are all different and individual. The main thing is I'm friends with them because I like them and we have a laugh and (hopefully) vice versa. Not because they have been hit with the ugly stick and make me feel gorgeous.

NightLark · 03/04/2012 08:55

why? Just why why why is she attributing all that bollocks to the way she looks?

To answer your question, I don't think about whether my friends are pretty, plain, tall, short etc etc. They're my friends, not some kind of accessory in my life.

PMSL at Psammead!

ouryve · 03/04/2012 08:55

I don't give a hoot whether friends are prettier than me or not. I care more about how interesting they are as people and whether we share similar values.

It's not hard to be "prettier" than me, anyhow, but since it clearly matters to her so much, I don't think the woman who wrote that article actually manages it.

virgil · 03/04/2012 08:56

I have to say I was expecting someone really attractive

Gigondas · 03/04/2012 08:57

She is certainly not ugly but it's an odd article. Mind you it is the fail...

Tee2072 · 03/04/2012 08:57

No one is prettier than me. Fact. I'm the most beautiful person in the world. I could have been a super model but dislike attention. Instead I walk around with a bag on my head so the my less beautiful friends don't feel inferior.

In other words, what a lot of bullshit. Beauty is, indeed, in the eye of the beholder.

'No one has ever asked me to be bridesmaid.'
I wonder why because she sounds like a brilliant friend. Hmm

I bet a billion quid she comes on here looking for validation of her article.

Stratters · 03/04/2012 09:01

How odd she is. And how ordinary looking she is too.

I wouldn't have her as a friend because I'd find all the attention seeking irritating and that's my job. I certainly wouldn't be jealous of her.
