I've applied just to piss DH off! It will make my day if she's a winner! Oh ha ha ha ha ha. "Hello, my Dad says you're the Queen because your ancestors were the best thieves."

ahem

you forgot miniFrenchgirl!!!

DD would have loved this, seeing as she believes she is a princess most of the time. But no point in entering her name - we are still on holiday that day. I think it has the potential to be a lovely day out for little ones.

Rhubarb · 01/02/2006 20:45

Would they be frisked? Or can I add a few "surprises" for the queen in that bouquet of flowers the kids get shoved up to give them?

roisin · 01/02/2006 20:50

I wondered whether this would have made it to mumsnet.

We are at stalemate in our house.
DSs are desperate to apply. Dh and I are not exactly fans of royalty

And if we have to pay to get down to London (long way for us) and find accommodation too, there are other things I would much rather do than go to Buck House with a load of screaming kids!

We are trying to win the boys over to our point of view by promising them a trip to the Cheltenham literary festival

Hulababy · 01/02/2006 20:54

Worth baring in mond, I think that it would be just one child and one accompanying adult chosen each time, rather than whole families.

roisin · 01/02/2006 21:01

one child winner plus one other child (friend or relative) plus one accompanying adult.

nikkie · 01/02/2006 21:20

my 2 could join the anti-royalist
Would love to see my xh face if they said they were going to tea with the Queen!

spursmum · 01/02/2006 21:24

I've put my ds in for it!! A non verbal hyperactive ASD 4 year old loose in the grounds? Brilliant!

Tortington · 01/02/2006 22:19

i think my children would be confused as i am a republican and my husband is a staunch monarchist.

i say chop off their head and he says " how dar you, how dar you...thats the QUEEN"

puddle · 01/02/2006 22:23

My ds is DESPERATE to go so we have applied. I'll cross the 'what did the republican say to the queen' bridge if we ever get to it.

alexsmum · 01/02/2006 22:33

i have just applied for my ds1 to go. i think it would be an amazing experience and certainly something for him to tell his grandchildren about.
Not to mention show and tell the folllowing monday!

alexsmum · 01/02/2006 22:34

those of you who are saying you are republicans, would you really rather have the likes of george bush than her maj?

Tortington · 01/02/2006 22:35

you cant equate george bush with sour face. old sour face doesn't run the country

starlover · 01/02/2006 22:36

it actually doesn't say the queen will be there.

it is a party in her honour and "members of the royal family will be there"

alexsmum · 01/02/2006 22:47

george bush is the head of state for the usa. the queen is our head of state.
if we didn't have the royals we would have some git like him.

Tortington · 01/02/2006 22:48

we have a tw*t runnin the country so do they - difference is we have old sour face do nothin fer a livin sponger too

BadHair · 01/02/2006 22:50

I was about to reply that there was no way I would want a child of mine mixing with parasitic royalty, but then I went and applied for ds1 to go. Don't know why other than it would be great for him to tell his kids about one day.
Then I remembered the Horrid Henry Meets The Queen story and am fervently hoping that he doesn't too!

alexsmum · 01/02/2006 22:57

i like the queen.

UCM · 01/02/2006 23:16

I love the Queen. What on earth do you think people come here to see (tourists). It's not bloody tony & cherie (disgusted emoticon)

Tortington · 02/02/2006 06:39

they dont see her either they see her paraphenalia and they dont just come to see her

Blandmum · 02/02/2006 06:43

I will join you on the republican side, Ladies.

I did my bit for the 'cause' while teaching about inherited diseases this week. We did haemophilia an I put up my family tree of Queen Victoria....cue horrified cries of 'Oh my god the queen married her cousin GROSS!'

Get 'em while they are young, sez it.....he he

SueW · 02/02/2006 07:20

DD's entered. She wants to meet Tracy Beaker

roisin · 02/02/2006 07:49

Get 'em while they are young isn't working for us at home though MB. DSs are appalled at our views on the monarchy!
