BTW I heard an interesting interview on sky news last nigght about the jury, some woman said that it would be a biased jury as everyone in US knows what happened with Jordy Chandler.
How could it be a fair trial???
BTW she was anti-MJ but just said that point which I think she was right on, he would not get a fair trial.

WSM · 21/11/2003 09:53

Agree.

P.S. I'm v impressed that you remembered that boys name, it must be 10+ years ago ?

doormat · 21/11/2003 09:58

WSM his name has been on the news the last few days as it is affiliated with this new case because the law was changed because of the scandal between JC and MJ.

karenanne · 21/11/2003 09:59

last time it was a civil action and they have changed the law since then so even if this boy doesnt want to go to court he can be forced to go to trial.
according to a poster on another site i go on who has just finished reading a book on mj and the whole jc thing ,they accepted the payoff because they were faced with the best lawyers money could buy and were constantly harrassed and badgered by mjs people .personally if it was my child having gone through this and then faced with a very public trial and top lawyers then i would make the same decision.
apparently the family of the child this time have already said theyre not in it for the money and hopefully justice will be done ....whichever way it goes.

doormat · 21/11/2003 10:03

sorry karenanne but I would never accept a "pay off" if my child was abused.
I would like to see them strung up and deserve everything they would get no matter what there financial status was.
Alos what about child anonimity, does that not exist in LA???
Alos a "pay off" means a person can keep on getting away with it, what about the future victims????

WSM · 21/11/2003 10:07

Agree

fio2 · 21/11/2003 10:10

why do the kids parents let them stay with him in the first place????

WSM · 21/11/2003 10:14

Trusting / stupid / ignorant / money driven ??

doormat · 21/11/2003 10:15

Jordy Chandler and his "greedy" family should be hanging their heads in shame. They could of stopped all this and as for MJ's people getting to him, he could of asked for police protection
instead
their was dollar signs in their eyes.$$$$$$$$$$

Alos knowing that my new found wealth was through one of my kids sorting out a dirty bastard would make my skin crawl.

fio2 · 21/11/2003 10:16

mine too doormat, its gross

doormat · 21/11/2003 10:19

It is gross fio and I really dont know how anyone would consider that.

FairyMum · 21/11/2003 10:39

MJ might not be guilty of child abuse, but he is guilty of being very naive or stupid. After the first scandal years ago, surely he should have learnt not to have children sleep in his bed? It's just weird and he opens himself up for all sorts of accusations....

doormat · 21/11/2003 10:43

I would call the baby dangling incident was child abuse fairymum and child endangerment.

GeorginaA · 21/11/2003 10:49

Did anyone see the rerun of the Michael Jackson interview last night on Sky One.

I don't know if he's guilty of the charges or not, but he really does seem psychologically stuck in childhood. I very much doubt he understands any implications of what his actions look like to the outside world. The incident with the baby certainly looked like (to me) the actions of a stupid naive teenager showing off, rather than the actions of a grown man.

Either he is very very evil, or he's so very beyond naive and trusting that he just doesn't understand consequences. I just hope either way he gets a fair trial.

FairyMum · 21/11/2003 10:56

Doormat, yes I agree. I don't know if he is guilty of sexual abuse though, but I think it is quite clear that he should be kept away from children. Can't make up my mind if he is himself a naive childish person who lives in his own world, or a calculating and cynical person who knows how to act the innocent part.
What about Uri Geller though ? Isn't he weird too?

musica · 21/11/2003 11:00

I think he is trying to create the childhood he didn't have, and my impression is he is very disturbed, not evil. BUT if he is abusing children, for whatever reason (evil intent or total lack of comprehension of what he's doing) then he needs to be kept away from children. I too hope he gets a fair trial - trial by media is really annoying me now - who will be next? It's even worse when the media jeopardise trials where the person is guilty, because by condemming them in the newspaper they might force the courts to let them off.

doormat · 21/11/2003 11:02

He is weird fairymum both of them.
I do agree that he is physchologically still a teenager but lets face it even teenagers dont sleep with other children.
Naive- I dont think so, just so used to having the sun shine out of his arse by his yes men and others in the industry.
IMO I think he believes he is untouchable because of who he is.

aloha · 21/11/2003 11:05

From what I understand some paedophiles do genuinely believe that what they do is an act of pure love that the children welcome and desire. They often have a great natural rapport with children (esp those pre-teen boys) partly because they Are mentally on a level with them and have a lot in common - they 'fall in love' with them and go to great lengths to take care of them, often paying for things for them or looking after them when they are ill. They key thing is that they honestly don't think they are doing anything wrong or harmful. All this isn't made up, it's recognised in psychology and there are pro-paedophile writings saying exactly the same thing. Many paedophiles do not think of themselves as cruel and do not think of their victims as victims, but partners. It's horrible, but true.

aloha · 21/11/2003 11:14

I posted this on the last MJ thread, and have seen nothing in his behaviour that doesn't fit he classic profile of a 'preferential abuser'
1 he sleeps with children in his bed
2 He real passion for pubertal boys (the classic preferential abuser's 'victim'
3 He has no sexual orientation to adults at all
4 He loves children and has an extraordinary knack with them, thinks they put him in touch with 'the lost innocent part' of him
5 He fills his home with things that are attractive to children
6 he is attracted to sick children he can 'help'

doormat · 21/11/2003 11:17

aloha it knocks me sick

GeorginaA · 21/11/2003 11:25

Whereas I agree that the behaviour profile does add up, and there is a high chance that he deserves to be put away for a long time, there is also still a chance that he is innocent - we were not there after all. Hence why I think these things should be left to trial and not trial by media.

Having a mental disorder where you are stuck in a the mental development stage of a child is not equivalent to being a child abuser.

All these "lock them up and throw away the key" threads disturb me considerably because I'm so aware of how the media twist things to meet their own agenda. In particular with sexual abuse cases, whether the accused is found innocent in the court of law or not seems to make no difference to how they are then viewed by the public.

Wasn't there that case recently of the headmaster who committed suicide because he was falsely accused of sexual abuse? I hate the thought of lives being ruined just so the tabloids can sell a few more copies of their paper...

katierocket · 21/11/2003 11:34

god - have you seen what he looks like on his mug shots. how far removed from what he used to look like. It's incredible.
jacko returns to vegas

fio2 · 21/11/2003 11:42

I think he ought to have a psychological assessment, I cant understand why this wasnt done last time. I think he is mentally ill

fio2 · 21/11/2003 11:44

but then again if you have money/celebrity in america you may be able to get away with anything - look at oj simpson, mind you the uk is guilty of this too.

aloha - agree,agree,agree
