the personhood bill is prolife movement. life begins at conception and therefore from the moment of conception the embryo is a person, with full rights and it seeks to make abortion illegal. It also means, according to some opponants, that a woman who has a miscarriage could theoretically be tried for murder, if it is decided the woman is 'responsible' for it
quite how that will be decided I don't know. carried on working? lifted something?
It would affect birth control - anything that affected implantation.
It would affect IVF
It is basically a very scary way to control women.
I think this woman's response to it is brilliant - every drop of sperm that isn't used in the attempt to reproduce is murder, because that's a potential human being.
Of course, sperm is only half a human being, so it's not the same as an embryo. I don't know what the stance of these personhood people is on the unfertilised egg. If they seek to control that too - then that makes this point even better!
