oh my, how terrible, just switched on the news. Those poor poor people and families.

piratecat · 05/11/2011 10:06

oh Psocid, thats bad form, i am quite sure you will find other roads ffs.

IslaMann · 05/11/2011 10:44

Psocid use the A38.

My thoughts are with the victims and their family and friends, and also with the Emergency Services and Health care professionals who are dealing with this tragedy.

SaggyHairyArse · 05/11/2011 15:08

Those poor people, your worst nightmare :(

Peachy · 05/11/2011 19:31

Is an awful thing to have happened.

We were at the carnival and remember a huge mist descending over the area: the weather had been horrid, we'd been caught in a downpour I have never seen the like of earlier (drenched through a regatta jacket and two layers in 100metre dash) then part of the river wall very close to where we were staying (Mum's house) collapsed so the weather conditions had been appalling. We saw helicopters overhead which I assume was part of the response (or SKY news) and that was ten minutes after the fog.

OTOH there was a big firework disaply and people on Sky are saying they saw black smoke drift across to the motorway.

If anyone on MN has family involved my heart goes out to you all. It was a very, very strange day for the area. The carnival for tonight has been cancelled for thei first time outside wartime in something like 400 years which shows the scale of things; I hope the do collections for the victim's appeal 9surely tehre will be one?) at the next one on monday.

Peachy · 05/11/2011 19:33

(Actually {Psocid was right to worrry even if small in comparison- we'd had to abandon 100 foot carnival flotas in North petherton: if the police couldn;t work out how to get those out goodness what other traffic weas doing!)

ilovesprouts · 05/11/2011 19:34

so very sad :(

jimmijam · 05/11/2011 19:37

its saddening to hear about those involved especially those who were lost. What a terrifying way to go, some caught in flames. hoping they did not suffer.

jimmijam · 05/11/2011 19:37

peachy. hoping brigewater carnival was enjoyable at least, we missed it

smackapacca · 05/11/2011 19:37

Urgh - just watching it on the news. It's just horrible. So shocking that a fireball was part of it. People were just helpless Sad

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/11/2011 19:40

Really awful - made my blood run cold watching the news.

Thoughts with the poor people caught up in the accident, their families and the rescue workers.

Peachy · 05/11/2011 19:48

jimi a good one, but kinda glad tonight is off as a mark of respect (it's part that and part highways agency, police were ok for it to go ahead but highways not. Police have just been incredible last 24 hours, can;t have been easy for them to have us lot to contend with as well as floods and fireballs).

We get to try again monday: those poor people not. We both worked in haulage industry near there so now just praying nobody we knew invovled.
