BREAKING NEWS: P&G win gold on the mumsnet family awards (which they sponsor)

Anyone else a bit cynical about this and think that P&G have basically 'bought' the award. My best friend and husband used to work there (how i met him) and I can guarantee they are anything BUT family friendly to work for!!!

Rebecca Mumsnet's post way upthread (second post, in fact) seems rathee, well, naïve in the light of the rest.

I agree with mum1369 that MNHQ does not emerge from this with flying colours.

thisisyesterday · 03/11/2011 23:46

right. i HAVE to go to bed.

if you see me post again tonight then punch me

CaptainNancy · 03/11/2011 23:46

greythorne- that's not really fair is it? We can all use 'advanced search' if we feel the need.

Queenofthehill · 03/11/2011 23:47

I like the Dan Brown namedrop at the end of that thread. Special.

That is all.

Night!

architien · 03/11/2011 23:48

I think we'd all be daft if we thought that every single aspect of a huge company would be pristine simply because in comparison to others they come out well in the way they are meant to treat their employees wrf families and win a parenting award. It's great they have, hopefully it will help other companies improve and encourage P&G to continue to improve.
Bill I'm a real person with a real father who until very recently worked for P&G. I thought that I'd get back to the subject of the thread and give my experience. I appreciate that it became a bit of a bun fight over MTG's unusual posting style but my experience is real. waves to Gashe

BillComptonstrousers · 03/11/2011 23:51

Again, apologies architien Threads like these make me quite cynical sometimes.

Greythorne · 03/11/2011 23:51

Captain Nancy

Sorry, I am confused. Yes, I searched for Mindthegapp's previous posts because something just did not ring true.

But my dig at MNHQ has nothing to do with Mindthegapp but to do with them handing out a potentially prestigious "family friendly" award to a company who just so happen to be a major advertiser of....MN and yet is well known in industry circles for being a very tough employer.

Why is that unfair?

LeBOF · 03/11/2011 23:53

Yes, your post came across as very heartfelt, architien, and I'm glad you made it. Take note, viral marketeers...

Greythorne · 03/11/2011 23:53

And architien, your post about P&G is worth a lot in painting a positive pic of P&G. Thank you for giving us another perspective and I am sorry to hear about your mum.

Greythorne · 03/11/2011 23:54

X post LeBof

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 04/11/2011 00:01

Have nothing to add other than to say bof is very clever. I bet mtg works for a competitor!

StillSquiffy · 04/11/2011 00:05

See now, I'd have been happy to accept that P&G thoroughly deserved their award until mindtheplug turned up and spoiled it all.

Now I'm inclined to think that not only do they employ really ropey PR houses, but they probably have something to hide if they feel a need to place such plants in sites like MN.

I do hope this thread will still be here in the morning because there's only one direction it can go in, and I want to rubberneck to the bitter end.

CaptainNancy · 04/11/2011 00:06

It's is unfair to quote something a poster has said on another thread on this thread.

1st rule of MN- what is said on the thread stays on the thread.

and yes- I admit, I'd already used advanced search and seen some of MTG's posting history, but I wouldn't use it on this thread.

Blimey- I seem to have turned into BALD.

Mum1369 · 04/11/2011 00:06

MTG left left the office gone to bed then?

Greythorne · 04/11/2011 00:09

Oh do talk sense, Captain!
Starting a thread about a thread is bad form, but quoting a person from another thread when it is relevant is just logical.

A person says she has no connection to a company and yet has made various posts elsewhere in such detail and with such terminology to suggest she does indeed have such a connection and you are going to invoke the "don't start a thread about a thread" rule?

GsyGacheFiend · 04/11/2011 00:10

No, surely it'll be an all-nighter, after all according to MTG people enjoy working a 60hour week. Grin

Greythorne · 04/11/2011 00:10

Oh, and who's BALD?

CaptainNancy · 04/11/2011 00:11

No- it's stalkerish behaviour actually.

CaptainNancy · 04/11/2011 00:11

boysarelikedogs.

squeakytoy · 04/11/2011 00:16

It is not stalkerish to look up a persons previous posts and refer to them if they are relevant to the current thread.

CaptainNancy · 04/11/2011 00:20

No- I don't think it's at all on actually.

Mum1369 · 04/11/2011 00:22

Really? I wouldn't think to do advanced search? And background is surely relevant here and informative? Another red herring perchance?

DioneTheDiabolist · 04/11/2011 00:26

Nancy, I have checked the references to other threads and they are relevant to this one. I think it's totally on.

LeBOF · 04/11/2011 00:38

It's not normally acceptable to cross-reference by the by, but this one falls under the Rule Of Weird, so it's ok.

Greythorne · 04/11/2011 01:01

Oh behave, Captain.
It wasn't even an advanced search, just a common or garden search which threw up sevetal threads that are highly relevant.

And by the way, when people suspect a troll and check the suspected troll's history, by searching dor other posts by the same user, is that stalkerish behaviour? If so, then there are lots of stalkers on this board. How many threads do you see "Interesting first thread, OP"? Are the people who post "interesting first thread" (and it happens a lot) all stalkers, too or are they just psychic? I don't see you calling stalker when people do that and troll hunting is a more cardinal MN rule than the quoting a thread on a separate thread rule.
