I wanted to post it as it was local news and couldn't believe that someone thought it was ok to leave a baby and toddler in an unlocked car to go drinking.

Are you outraged that she didn't get a custodial sentence?

YANBU, I dont think she ought to go to prison but those children certainly ought to be removed from her permenantly.

I expect that she's been given a non-custodial sentence, probably coupled with some kind of parenting order, and will get additional supervision from now on. She's guilty of neglect and the gamble has to be that this frightens her into getting her act together because the alternative - putting children into care - doesn't have a good track record either.
