As I said on the other thread math, with the greatest of respect, if you lived in the local area then perhaps you would understand. this is nothing to do with racism and everything to do with upholding the law. The travellers want equality - well they have it, this is the law of the land which says you cannot build without planning permission. The law is being applied to them in the same way it would be to their opponents.

I live locally, the damage a sizeable minority of this illegal site have done knows no bounds. They are not all dreadful but many on the illegal site are, they're rude, obnoxious and not in the least bit neighbourly.

Sorry if it upsets their supporters but local people want them gone.

It isn't black and White simply because they have been allowed to remain for so long but then again they are well versed in using the law to their advantage while sticking their fingers up at other parts of it.

I know local residents who have received death threats from these people and who have panic alarms installed in their homes. Nice!

That's the point I was trying to make. There is NO contribution from the Travellers to the community around them. They are just making the lives of the people who live in the surrounding area a misery. How about their human rights? Haven't they got the right to go about their business in a peaceful way without having to worry about their lives/livelihoods?

Consider yourself contradicted Manky.

Nobody has to justify their existence, to you or to anyone else, using any criteria whatsoever. To suggest that any particular group does is racist.

Since this is the 21st century, the right of ethnic minorities to live in a way that respects their culture and traditions has now been enshrined in law. So they do, in fact, have a right not to live as you think they should live.

Nobody has to justify their existence at all ever. I was and still am wondering about the contribution Travellers make to the society they put such great demands on. It works both ways my dear. You can ask for help/support a thousand times and you will be given it no matter who you are,but if nothing ever is given back to the community and all they do is demand more in return,one day people will have had enough and turn their backs on you. What makes Travellers so special they don't have to follow rules/laws that other people do??
Give and take is how it works not take,take,take.......

When you ask about a group's contribution to society and try to imply that this can or should be measured for any reason, then you are on very thin ice.

Didn't realise a post was deleted.HELLO MN HQ why was my post deleted? As far as I'm aware it was a genuine question about what Travellers had contributed to society? Am I not allowed to ASK that? Wasn't making any accusations a genuine question but would like to be told why it was deleted.

Not sure what was in the post that was deleted but am I allowed to refrase it if it's the one I think it is? If the Travellers left Dale farm tomorrow,what would it be the surrounding community would sorely miss or would tell friends and children about in a fondly remenising kind of way? Softly enough this way?

Admittedly I am late coming to this thread but why oh why is it racist to say to a group of people, NO you cannot build your housing estate on a piece of Green Belt land without Planning Permission? You tried and tried again but you've lost.

Problem is they are used to getting their way and not very good at accepting defeat. Not only will toys be thrown out of pram,they will be thrown AT you. And they are not soft toys....

That is not racism - that is the Planning process. Extremely long-winded in the Dale Farm case admittedly but Planning Permission has not been granted.

Ahh yes Manky sorry I forgot - let's forget the fact that the Planning Applications from Travellers are usually on Green Belt land and usually Retrospective shall we. In fact let's just forget the facts that no-one would normally be granted Planning Permission on these pieces of land. Oh No that must be racist.

Manky I know. Problem is the figure of Planning Applications being refused by Travellers being so high is because they are actually applying to build on Green Belt land. If it was put like to like with other developers buying brown field sites, well, they wouldn't have a problem would they? Travellers try to circumnavigate the system by buying Green Belt land because it is relatively cheap, building on it then applying for PP retrospectively and claiming their 'rights'.

Appreciate I am probably talking to the converted with that explanation.

Just read the Travellers who left dale farm ahead of planned eviction of last Monday have descended on Stockwood Park in Luton and are expecting their pals to follow them if eviction goes ahead on Friday. Local Council has started legal proceedings to evict them..... FFS they used bolt cutters to get through the gates,that's break in and entry isn't it?? Here's a bill my darlings for legal proceedings and any damage you have done to park and surroundings. That's what would happen to any of the settled community if they pulled a stunt like that. No money to pay the bill? Lets start with selling some of your belongings. Equal rights and all that. Change the law so they can be removed within 24 hrs.

What is the difference between disliking White people who break the law and travellers breaking the law? Nothing .... They just don't like people who break the law. Just because they are classed as a minority does not make someone who disagrees with what they are doing as racist. Bollocks.
