Young visitor - what racist comments? No one has said that practically every person involved is not White .... Until you pointed this out.

Al0uiseG · 07/08/2011 09:22

Marching, what's that ever achieved? Oh yes, an escalation into a riot. It's 2011, we have more ways than ever before to communicate but a "community" still thinks a march is the way forward.

ActiveVolcano · 07/08/2011 09:22

Have been linked here. Glad there is a discussion because this is truly terrible.

This started as a peaceful demonstration because of the death of a man. But it has turned into a violent riot because of opportunists.

I am so sad and angry by the violence. I live here and it is awful.

theyoungvisiter · 07/08/2011 09:24

Cookcleaner try TartyDoris' post of 00:47:06.

I'm not going to cut and paste it because I'm hoping MNHQ will delete it for the racist ignorant crap it is.

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 09:28

100 % agree with cookcleanerchaufferetc post at Sun 07-Aug-11 08:21:40

cookcleanerchaufferetc · 07/08/2011 09:29

But perhaps she has a point. It seems like the area affected has a large number of ethnic groups who each have their own culture and beliefs, including "White" people. That is a fact. It is unfortunately a simple fact that if you bring different people together there will be trouble. Not racist. Tarty said multiculturalism is failing here. Just like some of our government have said, and the german chancellor publicly admitted.

AuntieMonica · 07/08/2011 09:29

fuck off with the racist shite won't you?

jklikesrowing · 07/08/2011 09:30

tottenham hale is a shithole and has been getting worse, about 20% of the rioters were there to put the view across about the shot lad, the rest were just little rude boys who like to cause violence and steal shit, thier mothers must be so proud. and i think you will find that the innocent family man shot at the police first, he wasnt just randomly shot because of the colour of his skin

cookcleanerchaufferetc · 07/08/2011 09:31

Saying multiculturalism is failing in tottenham is not racist.

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 09:32

nd i think you will find that the innocent family man shot at the police first, he wasnt just randomly shot because of the colour of his skin

This. He was hardly a pillar of society was he, innocent people don't walk around with guns firing shots at police who are trying to do their job.

theyoungvisiter · 07/08/2011 09:34

And the fact that I've lived in this area for ten years without any problems at all...? The multiculturalism here is fantastic - there are communities from all round the world living side by side, for the most part without any problems at all. Now with one night people are trying to make this area out to be a poster-child of problem Britain.

Tottenham and Haringey have problems - but they are to do with poverty, deprivation and desperation and a community who feel like the government is not on their side. Race is a total side issue.

When the student riots turned nasty I didn't see people saying "well this is what happens when you bring large groups of predominantly white youths together, isn't it? They cause trouble." Blaming this on race is utter horseshit and brushes over the real problems Tottenham has.

stupefy · 07/08/2011 09:34

Sounds like he got what he deserved.

Al0uiseG · 07/08/2011 09:36

I think it's important to be able to discuss race and ethnicity without being shouted down as rascist. Tottenham is a melting pot of races, we can't avoid that fact. The shot man was black, another fact. A high percentage of rioters appeared to be black or mixed race. Which is to be expected when the area is predominantly black or mixed race.

cookcleanerchaufferetc · 07/08/2011 09:38

Young - you are the one harping on about multiculturalism.

Almost everyone else is discussing the guy who tried to kill the policeman, the guy who got killed, and the riot, not the colour of people's skin.

cookcleanerchaufferetc · 07/08/2011 09:39

And what alouiseg has just said is true.

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 09:41

I don't get what the problem on here is, whenever anyone seems to mention the 'R' word, they're immediately shot down with hysterical 'YOUR A RACIST OMFG' posts. What Alouise said is very true, I agree.

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 09:42

*YOU'RE even

theyoungvisiter · 07/08/2011 09:43

yes of course you can discuss ethnicity but to blame a huge complicated situation on race when you have actually very little idea what when on is just jumping on a band wagon.

This situation has about as much to do with race as the student riots did. The fact that the man involved was black - so what? The man prosecuted for chucking a fire extinguisher out of Millbank was white. Again. So what?

AuntieMonica · 07/08/2011 09:43

it 'a simple fact if you bring different people together there will be trouble'

is apportioning blame on race

theyoungvisiter · 07/08/2011 09:46

And I'm not "harping on" about race. I made one comment challenging another comment and then my comment was picked up by many people telling me I wasn't allowed to have that view.

this situation is incredibly sad.

A man has died.

Property and homes have been looted and burned.

My community is in shock.

I don't know what else there is to say and I find it really sad that my home is being held up as some kind of failed example of melting pot Britain when that's not what I see on the streets every day, and I don't believe if any of you came and visited you would see it either.

ActiveVolcano · 07/08/2011 09:48

This is actually about young people being failed in life. Many come from poor families, have little education, have no morals or principles etc etc. It shows the level of anger and hatred they have in them. The aggression is terrifying.

People started looting Tottenham Hale because they knew the police would be to busy with the rioting on the High Road. Then they started on Wood Green.

Old buildings with beautiful structures have been burnt down.

Innocent people are living in this.

This is absolutely horrendous.

BulletWithAName · 07/08/2011 09:49

I'm from that round that area, the reason I moved is because I didn't want to live in a shithole anymore, I didn't want my children growing up there and having all the problems I experienced. So you might have a lovely experience living there, and think it is wonderful but for many, many people, that is just not the case.

ActiveVolcano · 07/08/2011 09:49

I am in shock too, visiter

jklikesrowing · 07/08/2011 09:52

i too lived near there and am with you bullet thats why i moved

FellatioNelson · 07/08/2011 09:55

'This is actually about young people being failed in life. Many come from poor families, have little education, have no morals or principles etc etc. It shows the level of anger and hatred they have in them. The aggression is terrifying.'

So who exactly has failed them, then? It can't be the David Cameron can it? At least this is one thing he can't be blamed for. Grin
