Head fair, I read that, and came on to discuss, this is shocking!

headfairy · 18/07/2011 18:13

not suspicious makes me think suicide.

ImpyCelyn · 18/07/2011 18:13

Oh crikey. But who on earth can be trusted to investigate anything at this point.

headfairy · 18/07/2011 18:15

Was he due to appear before the select committee?

NormanTebbit · 18/07/2011 18:21

"Yates of the Yard held his head high and said he was leaving with his integrity intact. There was no side swipe at the government, unlike with his boss. Minutes later though the Independent Police Complaint Authority revealed why he was facing suspension. It is alleged that Yates got Neil Wallis?s daughter get a job at Scotland Yard. " From Order Order

Aww isn't it sweet

ThisIsANiceCage · 18/07/2011 18:21

Fucking hell!

Last week I was wondering about the safety of Andy Coulson, to be honest...

Fuck fuck fuck.

Wasn't the Iraq whistleblower also 'suicide' initially?

NormanTebbit · 18/07/2011 18:26

Hoare told the New York Times that not only did Coulson know of the phone-hacking, but that he actively encouraged his staff to intercept the phone calls of celebrities in the pursuit of exclusives.

In a subsequent interview with the BBC he alleged that he was personally asked by his then-editor, Coulson, to tap into phones. In an interview with the PM programme he said Coulson's insistence that he didn't know about the practice was "a lie, it is simply a lie".

At the time a Downing Street spokeswoman said Coulson totally and utterly denied the allegations and said he had "never condoned the use of phone-hacking and nor do I have any recollection of incidences where phone-hacking took place"

ThisIsANiceCage · 18/07/2011 18:35

Here's Hoare in 2010, along with Paul McMullan, declining to tell the police all they knew because they were only offered interviews "under caution", which means these could then be used to prosecute them.

oh what a shame for Sean Hoare. i watched that Panorama again recently, he was on it. he didn't look like he took brilliant care of himself, tbh.

teejwood · 18/07/2011 18:54

and now we have the david kelly of hackergate Sad?

teejwood · 18/07/2011 18:55

x-post real MBJ...

ThisIsANiceCage · 18/07/2011 18:57

OK, Beeb have now caught up. BBC reporter saying Hoare told a colleague only 10 days ago that he was seriously ill.

Obviously will have to wait for police statements, but at least there's a possible sad but simple explanation.

OP posts:
headfairy · 18/07/2011 18:58

he was an alcoholic and a drug abuser to be fair... BBC corr has said last time he was seen he said he was seriously ill.

Unless the M's have been feeding him ground glass for months now sounds a bit more like natural causes now..

Nancy66 · 18/07/2011 19:03

I really doubt there's foul play at work here - Sean was small fry in all this and had health issues for years due to drug and alcohol abuse

ThisIsANiceCage · 18/07/2011 19:07

Thanks Nancy. Saw on the other thread you knew him well. Very sorry.

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 18/07/2011 19:13

Great fun back in the day though!

teejwood · 18/07/2011 19:21

nancy, headfairy cage yy - i didn't mean NI bumped him off with the reference to kelly - just that we have a death associated with a major scandal, which never looks good.

teejwood · 18/07/2011 19:22

AitchTwoOh · 18/07/2011 19:26
