from Twitter:

politic_animal Political Animal
Ladbrokes have just suspended betting on Cameron for next cabinet resignation. Normally means about to adjust the odds.

NormanTebbit · 17/07/2011 22:43

chipstick just stick with the Daily Mail, it is so exciting and innovative

Grin

The Wire is great on elected police chiefs, it is a terrible idea

teejwood · 17/07/2011 22:43

agree cage et al - politicians in charge of the police = bonkers. official.

i find it hard to really dislike boris though - mad and likes his bicycling (was about to write bikes there but thought that might be open to misinterpretation Shock) - oh and he isn't ken.

Ponders · 17/07/2011 22:47

Oh I love Boris, teej (he makes me laugh immoderately Grin)

otoh I like Ken too (but he doesn't make me laugh at all Sad)

but Boris is Bullingdon & that's never a Good Thing Confused

BornSicky · 17/07/2011 22:48

Grin norman

teejwood · 17/07/2011 22:48

arguably none of the politicians are fronting up to their involvement with NI, though. as we've said - most PM's (and influential MP's?) since Thatcher have been far too cosy with RM et al.

teejwood · 17/07/2011 22:50

ponders - just can't do ken - never could
as i said earlier - not that i voted boris either Wink

Laugs · 17/07/2011 22:56

'The resignation of Sir Paul Stephenson is a shocking blow to David Cameron?s credibility as Prime Minister' - Thompson in The Telegraph blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/damianthompson/100097264/sir-paul-stephenson-resigns-this-is-grave-news-for-david-cameron/

I'm getting quite excited by all these developments on a Sunday night. Twitter is going crazy with resignation suggestions. Will he even have a job in the morning?

Ponders · 17/07/2011 22:58

another tweet

iainmartin1 Iain Martin
Very dangerous time for Cameron to be out of the country for four days.

chipstick10 · 17/07/2011 22:59

Thanks Bornsicky. Oh gawd, yvette cooper, she brings me out in hives as well, i have an urge to grab a wet fish when i see her oh so ernest face. Still at least shes washed her hair and put on a bit of slap for her dobing of DC.

teejwood · 17/07/2011 22:59

Laugs - when the tory right wing gets gleeful over the possible resignation of a tory leader i'm not convinced it's time to celebrate!!

chipstick10 · 17/07/2011 23:01

Ive got a bit of a crush on Boris Confused

NattersAndMutters · 17/07/2011 23:04

teejwood Will there be anyone 'in high places' left at all by the end of next week, and will the last person switch out the light Grin

Laugs · 17/07/2011 23:05

True teej. I think I'm just getting excited by how quickly developments are moving. And thinking about the power of Twitter - that tweet about Ladbrokes changing the odds - well if they hadn't changed the odds, they will be now.

teejwood · 17/07/2011 23:06

you know, i've long held a theory that the more someone wants power and responsibility, the less they should be allowed to have it. unless you are completely intimidated by the sheer responsibility of managing huge budgets/overseeing large numbers of people/governing/policing then you aren't taking it bloody seriously enough.

teejwood · 17/07/2011 23:07

true Laugs Grin
oh nick robinson is outside #10...

teejwood · 17/07/2011 23:09

and true Natters - if all the labourites who were close to NI from 97-2010 were to go too, there would be practically no-one left!
except the lib-dems i suppose.
i quite like vince cable you know (not in the chipstick and boris sense i hasten to add), even before the whole taking down NI debacle.

Ponders · 17/07/2011 23:12

if nothing else, if the result of all this means that the Lib Dems can pull themselves together, & Vince gets recognition for his Murdoch stance, all will not be lost Grin

Ponders · 17/07/2011 23:13

mind you, if we end up with a snap election, the Lib Dems will sink without trace Sad

teejwood · 17/07/2011 23:14

but ponders the polling is not looking like that is going to happen, is it? the tories have been using them as a smokescreen and they have been getting hammered - the by-elections to date have borne that out.

so do we think RB is still in custody then or do we think she's slipped out the back door?

ThisIsANiceCage · 17/07/2011 23:16

Still in custody, according to the Beeb right now (that's more than 11 hours).

OP posts:
teejwood · 17/07/2011 23:16

ponders another good reason to avoid a snap election...

also iirc labour does not have any money in the coffers to fight a national election at the mo - whereas the tories do.

chipstick10 · 17/07/2011 23:17

Lets hope for a snap election then Wink

teejwood · 17/07/2011 23:17

yes but cage it seemed they were maybe basing that on the fact they haven't seen her come out? whereas she could have been slipped out the back door...
