Should Christians be stopped from fostering because of their faith/belief?

I just thought (naively) that MN was bigger than the bigots out there. I like to debate and will challenge where appropriate but to be silenced because I challenged hateful crap that could be construed as a hate crime in any other walk of life is very sad.

I have posted my displeasure here, and have also reported my own post, and registered my views with MN.

Oh, and I also note that highstreet3 has made only one post on MN and guess which one it was?

So who was it that reported my response?

I have posted on this thread about having a gay child. Surely a bit of compassion/understanding would not have gone amiss, as well as a general regard for current legislation? Why on earth should such homophobic posts go unchallenged?

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/03/2011 23:12

I agree Lenin.

Makes you wonder about staying, doesn't it?

Thanks, Lenin....I do wonder whether it is worth all the energy sometimes but then I think, no, why should anyone put up with such blatant unlawful behaviour? If someone stood on the street shouting about the "unnaturalness of it all", it would be recorded as a hate incident. Freedom of speech is important but not when it actively harasses another group.
I believe MN doesn't want to be seen as siding with non Christian viewpoints, even if those viewpoints are offensive.

Yes, if I can make a parent's life easier by challenging homophobic crap then I will Grin

"Lord Justice Munby and Mr Justice Beatson ruled that laws protecting people from discrimination because of their sexual orientation "should take precedence" over the right not to be discriminated against on religious grounds"

(my italics)

So in theory we should not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation or faith, but in practice, gay trumps Christian.

Right.

"gay trumps Christian"
Every time.
Gay is what you are.
christian is what you decide to be.

Lenin, there are always people wrong on the internet, but good people like you are entitled to a good nights kip.Let the bigots have sleepless nights.

Right.

Yes,and gender and race should 'trump' any belief system too. These things are inherent to a person. Beliefs may be important to a person but they are not inherent.
