Should Christians be stopped from fostering because of their faith/belief?

Wow, another one.

Being a parent and being a foster parent (employee of the state) are very different things.

As a foster parent with extreme views, you have a choice. To hold your views more dear to you than your job, as in this case, and therefore lose your job, or to put your feelings aside for the sake of your clients, and keep your job. It really is very simple.

I was wondering that, or perhaps all self-righteous bigots write long-winded and dull posts?

justanuthermanicmumsday · 03/03/2011 22:07

i doubt foster parents who are in it because they actually love children view children as clients or their role as a "job". These kind of foster parents won't be able to separate the so called "job aspect" from their personal views how can they when their role involves parenting? They could but they wouldn't be true to themselves saying "honey it's ok to hold xyz views" when actually they dont believe in it themselves.

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/03/2011 22:20

Oh look! I've had a post deleted! First for me.

I wonder, though, why that should be? Telling someone with such offensive views to fuck off seems pretty acceptable to me.

scurryfunge · 03/03/2011 22:23

So have I - telling someone to fuck off because they have homophobic views is reasonable. I thought MN didn't allow homophobia Sad.

aren't you being just as offensive though by using foul language

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/03/2011 22:32

We shall not, we shall not be moved

scurryfunge · 03/03/2011 22:34

MN tolerates bad language though normally -that is why I am confused. Swearing at someone is not nearly as offensive as homophobia.

I agree but telling someone to fuck off is not a personal attack -someone on nearly every thread gets told to fuck off....can't see that this was different. If MN had a blanket ban on off fucking then I could understand but this is a bit of a disturbing intervention.

I'm sorry, MN, if you thought that swearing at a poster was unacceptable - but I'd like to ask you if you'd actually read the thread concerned?

And ask yourself - if you were the mother of a gay son, how would you respond to that post?

I'm actually seriously, seriously offended that you have deleted my thread. Because someone must have complained to you about my post - and that someone must be someone who shares those homophobic views.

I'm seriously, seriously hacked off with this and with your decision.

scurryfunge · 03/03/2011 22:53

ditto

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/03/2011 22:53

BIWI I am stunned at the deletion
