I know. I'm from NI and was just chatting about her with my mum a couple of weeks ago as her wedding photo was front page on one of the major NI newspapers because of her dad. It is really surreal that she has been murdered. I've been feeling really upset since I found out.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 11/01/2011 14:19

me too jenny, whereabouts are you from? I'm south down. it is very upsetting when it someone 'local' and that you know of.

She was a very beautiful bride, wasn't she. Such a tragedy.

canyou · 11/01/2011 15:33

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 11/01/2011 15:43

It is tragic news. I'm from county Tyrone and everybody is just devastated. I hope they catch whoever is responsible and they are brought to justice.
It's a tragedy to die at such a young age but the circumstances just make it all the more heartbreaking.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones.

jennymac · 12/01/2011 09:23

Boo - originally from Tyrone but also living in South Down now.

expatinscotland · 12/01/2011 09:26

Three men are in custody and set to appear in court today.

TennisFan · 12/01/2011 09:35

This is so sad, the tragedies that some families have to deal with are so difficult.

The poor husband out in Mauritius all alone until some family get out to help him cope.

I hope they catch the correct person and not just 'arrest anyone' to keep the story as quiet as possible.

FreeButtonBee · 12/01/2011 09:44

God, my brother is still at the Academy and does Irish. That's so sad; her dad's words were so heart breaking. So much tragedy has followed him, you wonder if he will be able to continue.

wukter · 12/01/2011 09:49

Tragedy has really followed Tyrone around aover the last few years.

RIP Micheala.

wigglesrock · 12/01/2011 10:07

Her father was so moving on the news as were her brothers. Think husbands family are with him now and the Irish Embassy is trying to get them both home as soon as they can. My thoughts are with the whole family.

nikki1978 · 12/01/2011 10:12

It is tragic. I really don't understand why though? She went upstairs to the hotel room and 20 mins later was found strangled but nothing was taken. Why would someone murder a stranger for no reason? Very sad and troubling :(

wannaBe · 12/01/2011 10:17

press saying it's believed she interupted a robbery and was killed. Sad

How horrible for all the family. Sad at least they appear to be on the verge of charging those responsible.

wigglesrock · 12/01/2011 10:28

She disturbed a burglar who had used a cloned key, she fought back, he killed her.

wukter · 12/01/2011 10:31

They have arrested 3 hotel employees now, 2 room attendants and their supervisor.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 12/01/2011 13:56

well it is good that tehy are narrowing the suspect field, unless tehse 3 peopel are new people taht weren't in teh original 6 suspects?

i agree tennis, i hope they do it right and not just say "he'll do, we want to wrap this up" to protect their tourism income.

i dread to think what sort of a fight she had to put up if tehre were 3 of them Sad

Another Tyrone native here. Totally devastating for the Harte family and the McAreaveys. Sad.

The Tyrone team has seen enough tragedy over the years but this is in a different league.

Glad those responsible have been caught so quickly.

Poor poor Mickey and family Sad. Michaela was just a beautiful girl. Inside and out.

Sinkingfeeling · 13/01/2011 18:59

This is unbelievably sad. Ballygawley is my Dad's home town and where lots of my relatives still live. RIP Michaela.

Bishoplyn · 14/01/2011 14:02

Boo - have just watched UTV lunchtime news about her coming home to be buried with tears rolling down my cheeks.

Words fail me.

stressheaderic · 14/01/2011 22:39

I work with many Irish colleagues who knew or knew of Michaela and are saddened by her death, as am I.
Such a beautiful girl, with an apparent beautiful character too. An utter tragedy.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 14/01/2011 22:43

it is just so so tragic.

i saw one of the murderer's mum and wifeb talking earlier. i just don't know what to make of it all. i don't think we will ever know if they are the right ones.
