Hi all I am just posting this in order to keep Joannes name in the public domain- This case is very mysterious and so far the police have no real leads although her parents suspect she has been abducted!

The link is below-

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1341106/Distraught-parents-Jo-Yeates-plead-help-finding-missing-architect-daughter.html

Hopefully someone has the information needed to bring Joanna hope safe and well- her parents are distraught!

I wonder what she was wearing when she was found? I have been assuming that the clothes she was wearing at work/in the CCTV pictures on Friday evening are missing, or they would not have been implying that she went missing on Friday.

The only explanation I could think of for her being near where she was found on foot would be if she had gone for a run - I gather she was quite sporty, and it is within running distance of where she lived - but I can't imagine she would have gone out for a run after dark on a Friday night, after drinking, with snow forecast. Saturday morning would be possible, but it snowed a couple of inches on Friday night, so not ideal running conditions. Obviously she would not have taken coat and handbag for a run, and might have had another doorkey not on a bulky fob - but presumably she would have been in running clothes, not work clothes. CCTV on the bridge would have picked her up though - unless woolly hats etc obscured her face.

CaveMum · 26/12/2010 20:37

Unfortunately in these days of 24hr news people "expect" constant updates. Without them people, ie the media, tend to fill in the gaps as it were.

It will take a long time to get through the CCTV footage as no one knows for sure when she went missing as there are no confirmed sightings of her for some 36 hours, in theory she could have disappeared at any point in that time so they will have to check all of the footage.

Thankfully the Bridge is not a major route, so there will not be tens of thousands of cars to check through.

MollieO · 26/12/2010 20:38

I would have thought that if she was a runner it would have been mentioned in the press conference. Most runners have usual routes they do so I imagine the police would have checked that. I have seen keen runners out where I live even though the roads and footpaths were covered in snow.

We were talking about Joanna Yeates today too - terribly sad story, Christmas will never be the same for them. I hope the police do find out what happened for her family's sake.

The pizza business is quite odd but when my sister lived in a flat she would regularly visit her neighbour for tea and often not take her handbag or keys and visit in her slippers. Still odd though if no-one has come forward to say they had seen her.

My heart goes out to anyone who has relatives missing - the not knowing must be tortuous for them.

FishKebabs · 26/12/2010 21:07

I read on the Daily Mail comments that a womans screams were heard by someone who was at a party nearby to where Joanna's flat was, but they did'nt think anything of it at the time but now think it could of been her.

southeastastra · 26/12/2010 21:08

could have probably just been a hit and run accident - very sad

Pantofino · 26/12/2010 21:21

Lord, please don't listen to the Daily Mail about anything remotely serious!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 27/12/2010 09:07

The suspension bridge isn't the only route from the flat in Clifton to Failand where she was found. Most direct, yes, but possible to go other ways.

Lovecat · 27/12/2010 09:48

re. the comments made about the father - it never fails to amaze me the number of people who can't imagine any other reaction than their own, who believe that a differing reaction must somehow be suspicious.

When my 19yr old brother went missing nearly 18 years ago, after 2 days my mum 'knew' he was dead for the simple reason he had no reason to vanish on a night out, all his clothes were still there at home, as were the majority of his wages and all his savings.

She also said to us that it would be a relief for his body to be found as then at least she would know and could properly grieve.

Thankfully this was before the internet and as he was a young man his case didn't get the country-wide publicity, so I didn't have to endure a load of online speculation about my mother's 'creepiness' or other signs of guilt when his corpse finally floated up out of the dock where his murderer had dumped him Angry

Going to hide this thread now, has brought up too many upsetting memories. Hope the amateur profilers feel good about themselves.

Feenie · 27/12/2010 09:58

God, hasn't this thread been deleted yet? The sheer number of MNers who seem completely unable to distinguish between feeling sympathy with the family and completely and utterly crossing the line into malicious gossip staggers me.

Worried40 in particular, you are a total moron.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 27/12/2010 10:04

feenie I think that it's a normal response to try and make sense of this, especially those of us who live in Bristol.

Tillyscoutsmum · 27/12/2010 10:06

Lovecat Sad I am so sorry

FlightoftheCrimbleTree · 27/12/2010 10:12

At least one post has been deleted.

It is hard to know where to draw the line. We are subjected to these appeals and interviews which most of us are aware are one of the tools used by police to examine people's behaviour.

It's very hard not to want to comment I think, but at the same time I think the comments and speculation we make need to remain in private.

To a degree, at least.

Lovecat, I'm very sorry to hear about your brother. How absolutely terrible. I'm also sorry if I have contributed to your discomfort at reading this thread.

I shan't say any more regarding my own feelings on it, which are irrelevant in any case.

wintera · 27/12/2010 10:14

Lovecat - So sorry to hear about your brother. I hope your post makes people stop and think about what they are saying.

I can't imagine how they must be feeling, the sudden death of someone you love is hard enough to deal with, let alone when they have been murdered. I hope they get the answers they need & quickly.

amijee · 27/12/2010 16:18

What I find a bit surprising is that the police have allowed the family to pay their respects in an area which is still a crime scene.

Is it because they want to observe what is going on? Otherwise, what possible explanation could there be if police are still doing a "fingertip search" of the area as reported by the Guardian.

It is all terribly sad, terribly confusing and terribly worrying. A part of me hopes it is someone she knows and not a random killer who is free to do the same to other women.

AuntBessieIsComingForXmas · 27/12/2010 16:26

ami, the Police let the family visit the area close to where her body was found. They are oviously not allowed to walk over/contaminate the actual crime scene itself. This was made quite clear on the latest Sky News report.

HTH

ilovemydogandMrObama · 27/12/2010 16:28

The police haven't actually stated that it's a murder inquiry, just that the sudden disappearance is suspicious. There's the possibility that her death may have been from natural causes. Hopefully the autopsy will determine how she died.

earwicga · 27/12/2010 16:35

very very sad. Please don't write anything speculative that might hurt a friend or relative reading this thread, however unlikely. Seen this before on MN and it isn't nice.

Lots of warm hugs lovecat; lots.
