I have the solution to the Ground Zero Mosque

Given the furore over the suggested mosque at Ground Zero see www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/aug/18/ground-zero-mosque-republican-attacks
and given the devastation happening in Pakistan, why don't they donate all the money to help their Muslim brothers and sisters. This way they not only look good but by the time they have raised the money again, things may well have cooled down.

Just a thought.

Most Muslims donate part of their income anyway.

FallingWithStyle · 23/08/2010 19:29

Oh...you mean the Ground Zero Mosque that's not a mosque and not on ground zero?

Did no Muslims die in the Twin Towers, then? Were they all WASPs? Confused

Daily Mail anyone, anyone???

TheOldestCat · 24/08/2010 09:26

This says it all for me.

OnlyWantsOne · 24/08/2010 09:29

this is going to get stingy :P

HowsTheSerenity · 24/08/2010 09:37

Ignorant scaremongering idiots are causing the furore.
Look at what the catholics/christian (insert other relgion here) have done ove the years. Much worse then a few wanky moronic muslims.
All religion is wrong. All buildings build in which to worhsip questionable deities should be torn down (unless they are nice old ones with lovely architecture).
No religion = no problems

gorionine · 24/08/2010 09:43

Thanks BeerTrisPotter!

I must admit that the first time I heard of it, on the radio it went something like "Barak Obama agrees for a giant mosque to be built on Ground Zero" and said like that, I did not find the idea great.

Obviously when all the fact are actually on the table, much more reasonable.

GothAnneGeddes · 24/08/2010 10:18

Do you know what is being built on Ground Zero, as in on the actual site itself?

A shopping mall. Very respectful Hmm

MIFLAW · 24/08/2010 10:30

Can anyone explain to me why, if someone did actually build a mosque, bang on Ground Zero, it would automatically be a bad thing?

gorionine · 24/08/2010 10:34

MIFLAW, I am a Muslim and I think to build a mosque on actual Ground Zero so soon after the event would have antagonised the Muslim community even more as without a doubt it would be seen as a provocation.

AbsOfCroissant · 24/08/2010 10:36

"Maybe they should ask the families of the people who were murdered what they think? just a thought..."
They did. Many have no objections

I was about to link the Charlie Brooker artical, but I see TheOldestCat beat me to it.
