Report the Raoul Moat FB page to get it deleted

link to the page. I have reported as it contains hate language. some of the comments are vile and I restricted myself to the first page.

Talksport are running a campaign to get the page deleted. The more people who report, the quicker it will be removed.

Wouldn't ignoring the FB page be a more civilised solution? Free speech is an important value in our society - even if those speaking freely are offensive. Running campaigns to get pages deleted simply gives them more publicity.

Okay Chil, you can ignore and I'll report! i believe there's a reason that we are able to report pages that contain hateful language, and that's because we live in a civilised society that doesn't tolerate violence against women and children. Making a legend out of Raoul Moat doesn't contribute a jot towards our freedom of speech as far as i can see.

You're actually the one making a legend out of him by posting the link to the FB page.... Most decent people wouldn't bother trying to find it - just the type of idiot that wants to jump on the bandwagon.

I agree with chil. Highlighting these fb pages on the internet is just going to draw more people to them.

It's IMO one thing to happen upon a page and then report it. Quite another to deliberately go there when you would otherwise not have done so.

highlighting the page to a demographic that i had thought wouldn't be interested in endorsing raoul's 'legendom' isn't likely to draw more people in - the idea was to report the page and get it removed. i'd be surprised if the page suddenly had a lot more fans from mumsnet. prove me wrong if you like though!

It is disgraceful that such a group is running on FB. Not a member of FB otherwise i would report.

This is about one man, though. Yes, idiots have joined and are posting vile comments (IM)), but they are entitled to their view.

There are not inciting racial hatred, which would have me clicking the Report button PDQ.

slushy - it's possible your friend joined so that he could post negative comments about the group.

If the page isn't itself threatening then why should it be removed because of the comments that others are adding to it?

Should Mumsnet be removed if people make threatening posts in a forum?

As for the page well it's difficult to say. I'm all for free speech but these idiots have taken it too far. Maybe giving it so much publicity was a mistake? I've read the comments on that page and they are mostly if not all vile

Badger - I would expect that the thread would be removed. not suggesting that facebook is removed.

If the thread itself wasn't threatening then wouldn't you expect individual comments to be removed rather than have the whole thread deleted?

If the actual Facebook page says something threatening, rather than just unpleasant, then that's one thing.

However if it's peoples comments that are the problem then surely it's just them that should be removed?

how many threads get pulled on here for exactly that reason though? once a thread/fb page becomes a place that starts to attract attention for the wrong reason it's pulled pretty swiftly.
